I traded a guitar for a new Charvel So Cal (MIJ) and ordered the 37mm brass block from Floydupgrades.com to have the shop that I got the guitar from put it in. Well here is the scoop. Well I got a call from the guitar tech who is installing the big block on the Floyd and said that the big block would cause a clunk against the cavity (he did not even put it in yet) due to there not being enough clearance with the big block to allow free motion with the bar (push bar down all the way) compared to the original block. He said could either adjust the Floyd by raising it a bit off of the body and adjust it where the the Floyd base would be angled to get the amount of travel I would need or I would need to have it routed so there is clearance. Would not cost much to rout the cavity out, but WTF?
I tried to contact Chubtone, but he is not reachable at the moment. I told them to wait until I did some research on this. I also ordered a brass big block from Chubtone for my Charvel Mod 1 Pointy Headstock (2005 reissue), I hope that works out too.
Any suggestions?
