Do the blocks prevent the bar from being pulled up? I thought they allowed the trem to sit up against the body in the cavity and that how they improved the tone?

That's a substantial difference.

Nah, it's only a little bigger than the stock block. The material is much more resonant if I remember correctly.

So the bar is still full floating? It's hard to believe that makes that big of a difference. I always thought the block sat up against the wood so that it just transferred the vibrations to the body.

It has nothing to do with that, but depending on your trem cavity rout it can be a by-product. I have an old Soloist where it did in fact rest against the back of the rout eliminating any pull-up. Tonally, it did seem to make a bigger difference in that guitar. It's had minimal trem travel impact on any of my other guitars.

a floyd upgrades big block came on my gutierrez guitar. i wont order another guitar without one.

Put one in my Charvel which was kind of bright to begin with and made it even brighter afterwards

How low is the bridge? Is it flush with the body? If it is, raise it up off the body a bit. It tames some of the brightness.

I own ToneQueens USA Chavel now. It is a Big Block Bell brass block from F.U.
The bridge is up off the body, but the block is so big it restrics the up pul on the bar (no biggy) I was suprized the bridge plate still sits level to the body of the guitar. Works/sounds fine to me.
Tom is tone deff anyway.....

do the brass claw make any tonal difference?
It did for me and a few others i spoke with about it.
What the brass big block does is it fills up the tone the floyd takes from.
but in the meantime you aos lose some important high end.
I wanted it to be as close to a fender 6 point trem in tone as possible.
The brass claw definitely brings back the high end so that it is now balanced.
with just the big block my tone was fuller on my charvels and then after
i installed the brass claws it was fuller and had the proper top end in the tone i noticed was missing.
For $10 it is worth it

Huge difference. Massive increase in sustain. Large improvement in tone.

Do it. Do it right. Do it right now.

Be Advised Though... I had To Route The Shit out of the Guitar, Removed a Lot of wood to retain Full Travel Of The Floyd.

YMMV...

i installed it in a few guitars.. it made 2 out of 3 sound like shit. basically it was like it took the high tone knob and put it to zero.

Wow necro bump. I go back and forth on these. They definitely make a guitar darker IMHO. I think they improve some sustain on the high frets. But the stock brass OFR block sounds pretty good too IMHO.

I think I heard a difference from installing a brass claw, too, which shocked me. The guitar seemed louder and livelier after installing it.
