i like d-tunas and I have a hard time getting recessed to fit.  Surface for me.
				
			those are GORGEOUS!!!!!Back in the '80s Charvel didn't offer the neck pocket angled but I do prefer the neck & body more parallel than say a LP degree...
I also love the Floating aspect with Floyd's I feel I can articulate melodies & solos more to my style, incl. vibrato single or double stop chords.

			The carved top Wolfgangs have a slight recess to give the bridge a flat surface to sit on. The flat tops don't need it.Top mounted. Hate floating. Tuning is easier, break a string and you are still in tune.
Peavey Wolfgang Standards have a slightly recessed route so the Floyd sits lower, but still on the body, to keep action lowered.
