Plimsouls, jeff heely, the pretenders. The hooters

Everything listed! lol...

back then I had a 66 Mustang Fastback-GT, (Yeah, the car, AND me were cool!) Stock radio...?!

So only AM in the car... FOND memories of beach boys, and 50's tunes playin out of the TOP of the dash while toolin down the Pacific Coast Highway... ahhhhh...

Otherwise, I was kind of a Mod/punk?! Brit-pop, Oingo Boingo, Souxie and the Banshee's, GBH, Black flag, X, Agent Orange!, shit that scared the Rich kids... Definately good to be in LA then...

I forgot the Hooters! "And we danced" is one of my all time favorites!

Oh, and anybody from the Carolina's remember Sugarcreek/ The Creek? Not big time but god I loved them.

The Cure
Tears for Fears
Huey Lewis
Steve Winwood
...I hate YES, but Owner of a Lonely Heart was an epic tune as well.

A bunch of what everyone has already mentioned plus
The Romantics
Depeche Mode
The Hoodu gurus

and a bunch more I've forgotten and have not thought of since the 80's

I am 49. In the 80's I was still listening to the 70's stuff if I wasn't listening to current hard rock/metal. Zep. Sabbath, ELO, Kansas, Styx, REO, Mott the Hoople, Alice Cooper, Kiss, Ted Nugent, Foghat Foreigner, Boston. I never really dug the disco stuff although looking back I see how well done it was. Never liked punk/alt/new wave.
Funny thing is I still listen to the same style of music, although now I like some of the heavier bands I did not like back then like Anthrax and Testament.

^^^ Streets and Saga!!!! WTF! Nobody would say that except me and you. Love it. Ha

I used to go see Sugarcreek all the time at The Corporation in Clemson, SC, along with Subway, Eli, Riff Raff, and a bunch of other great southeast circuit bands of the late 70's/early 80's. I remember repairing Jerry West's Nady wireless one time when they were in town. The Corporation was one of the best rock clubs ever - I even got to play there a few times with some bands I was in back then, which was quite a thrill for me.

As for early 80's bands, let's not forget Joan Jett - I was in love with her and Pat Benatar back then...

A few other good bands of the era:

Kix
Girl
Krokus
Loverboy

Oingo Boingo & Berlin were 2 of my faves. Still dig them.

The 80s had some awesome music and some of the best movies.
So many great bands already mentioned.

Asia
Billy Ocean
Don Henley
Kenny Loggins
The Greg Kihn Band
Stevie Nicks
Talking Heads

Tears for Fears and Saga were two of my favorites back then as well. Also dug Marillion, Sade, Sarah Mclachlan, and a jazz pianist/singer by the name of Diane Schuur.
