I wonder why people just don't buy the amps he copied off of, for half the price? Really makes no sense to me. I guess that's the price of admission to the Fortin Echo Chamber..I mean army.

There are so many amp company’s that have stole and borrowed at this point.. I’m not saying it’s right just that you may be playing and amp right now that the original circuit design didn’t come from them. Examples I can give are Mesa taking and coping from Soldano and Fender.

I’m the “kid” who owns the Metalhead modded Marshall Dino mentions in the video.

The Fortin modded Marshall Dino currently owns is not a copy of my amp, he had that done long before he came in contact with me.

As he mentioned in the video, I didn’t want to sell the amp. Dino asked if I would be willing to let Mike document the circuit so he could have a copy built for himself. I told him I’d help any way I could, he had Mike get a hold of me and we eventually met up so he could check out the amp.

The reason Dino wanted my particular amp documented was because it was the only other Metalhead mod he’s heard that sounded like his original head that was stolen. Both Jerry from FJA (my local tech at the time) as well as Mike confirmed that my circuit has some differences from the usual Metalhead/Elan mods and preamps. I also own an Axis Excalibur EP-1, Elan Dino preamp pedal and have even tried another Metalhead 800... none of them sound anything like this one.

How about you take some gut shot for us here at rig-talk?

I totally agree. That tone is still one of my favorite metal rhythm tones.

You seem like a really swell guy. Every thread like this is you going off on "Fartin" and sounding super fucking intelligent. I don't give a shit about Fortin, I was simply stating the obvious. Every thread that mentions his name has you and all of the other haters reigning your superior opinions down on everyone else. Again, I don't own any of his products and don't care about his brand or his methods, it's not important to me.

I've said before, despite what Zach seems to reiterate whenever he shows up, I have no hate for Mike. I've owned a couple of his amps and they sounded great and may still grab a pumnpkin unless something tweaks my interested before they come out. It's also cool if they are putting this Elan circuit into production as it should be a really interesting amp. It's a bit of shame Elan isn't doing it since he relaunched his business, but it is what it is.

I also have no problem pointing out inconvenient facts, which seems to be something that isn't allowed by the Fortin defense team.

Plate, grid, cathode. Really not much to this old tube technology. Pretty easy to understand and tweak. Nobody is doing anything groundbreaking. They are all just a new take on old technology with the same circuit basis, that is still the most desirable.
I find it amusing to be upset over someone copying another's circuit that is really nothing new to begin with. Just shows ignorance about tube amps. They are not that complicated.

It's a different type of tone but equally as good or better imo if you like these kinds of mids.

Just over $2k, hand made, brand new and we are talking months not years.

Engl Savage/Blackmore? I mean both brands basically sound like Engl in a mix anyway, although in person it'd probably be different, then there's the build style etc.

Maybe it will have a purple faceplate with white knobs to match the album cover!!!!! Purple logo. Maybe a self bias resistor!!!!! Lol.

Even if the base schematics already exist, Mike will make some tweaks and add some features and goodies.

Hey guys, just want to clarify something here. This is an amp Mike is doing for Dino. Dino is a longtime friend of Mike's and a friend of mine for awhile too. Absolutely wonderful dude. We haven't discussed a production version at all yet, but the inboxes are blowing up, so just wanted to clarify that as of now, the conversation about a production model with this hasn't been had yet.

I say this though, as someone that has spent years chasing this tone, I 100% want this to happen, and I will be bringing it to Mike and Dino. Just wanted to clarify, as of right now, it is just for Dino. Cheers guys!

I was always under the impression it was just going to be a one-off amp for Dino but I’m not gonna lie, I got pretty excited when he made it sound like it was going to be a production model in the video.
