If you put it in the loop you must use the key input for it to work properly. It is excellent in the loop and will address the noise you are talking about.

I’ve run it in front too with an amp that doesn’t have an FX loop and it does a pretty good job there too.

Wait, what?? In all the videos and threads I've viewed, this is the first I'm hearing of this.

So I can't just use the two jacks at the top into my loop for the Zuul to work at all?

I run mine first in the loop and use the key with my boss tuner. Im pretty sure I run mine through the bypass but Im not at home atm to verify. I run mine about a quarter of the way up and I can turn on my Savage Drive and Ryra Klone plus dime the gain on my KSR and still not get any noise. Also I can let a note sustain as long as possible and it will let it completely ring out before clamping down. Plus one knob is a relief after coming from an NS-2. Everything on my pedal board gets switched out except for Zuul. I've said it before that this is the first pedal that lives up to the hype.

I don't have that tuner. So Lunati gave me a pretty good breakdown of how and why to use the Key if you're going to put it in the loop. I have the Friedman Buffer Bay and platinum board. I don't have a boss tuner, so if I run the Zuul in the loop, I need to find a buffer pedal and add it to my board, I believe. i was hoping to avoid this.

I think we're going to just try it in the loop first. All I'm wanting to do with my Zuul is cut back the 'feedback' noise when i boost my high gain channels, which is only periodically at shows. I don't run ultra boosted high gain all the time as it is. Hopefully just putting it in the loop will solve this.

I tried a bunch of these gates but ended up with the Ebtech Hum Eliminator. I place it on my amp head as the last thing before the loop return and it's incredible. Beat out all these other noise gates and suppressors I've tried. No issues with sustain or decay, delay, etc. Just incredible.

We’re in the golden age, noise gates galore but can’t deny the zuul is up there in effectiveness and simplicity

I built 2 Zuul clones last weekend. I havent had a ton of time with them yet, but I kind of thought they were too touchy. It seems like they go from not strong enough to mega clamp in a hair touch of the knob.

I actually had better luck not using the key inputs. They are less drastic that way. One in the loop, and one in front of the amp, without the key inputs being used, seems to work pretty well.

Yea , some swear by the key inputs but I prefer without
