Got to play a Dragon. Honestly liked it better than the Cobra. Had great upper mids, seems like it would cut in a mix very well. Had a ridiculous amount of bass, to the point of retarded. Not really useable past 9oclock. Depth at around 10oclock. Sounded great with the fat bottom cab but better through FB and Engl XXL. :D Clean channel sounded just like Cobra but the crunch channel was much better for the classic stuff. Lead ch great for a modern metal tone. These things are going pretty cheap right now, pretty good deal for a grand. On a side note, the owner of the Dragon he is having trouble getting a good recorded tone out of it. :dunno:

Love Framus, the lead channel on the Cobra is over the top.

Also, the fact that you could mod the Dragon for the Cobra Lead channel is cool.

I liked my Cobra alot!!
Always wanted to try the dragon.
If someone buys a Cobra to play Blues licks on.....barking up the wrong tree!
That amp is METAL!!
Great clean on it though. ;)

There is one for sale locally here for $1250.
So tempting, but have no need for another three channel head.

Yeah, The Cobra really has no need for a third channel. On my Cobra it sounded identical on lead and crunch. I had an older version. Maybe the newer versions had some differences. Some guys say the newer Cobras are not that way. IDK. Mine would breath fire or go clean and nothin inbetween. They should have called the Cobra the Dragon for it's fire breathing abilities. :D

Most of us have no need for another head but, my stable gets lonely and they need new friends at times.

Oh yeah, I hear ya! I'm defintely looking for another head, but I want a simple, single channel monster.

My Cobra was the older version as well.
Great cleans.........then BRUTAL!

Really no inbetween!

I'm curious about those ISP subs or whatever down there. Those are some Class A amps you've got there.

Hey Thanks man! Don't get me started on the ISP subs, hehe. I get too excited talking about them. If God took them away from the planet tomorrow, I would stop playing guitar. How bold of a fucking statement is that! You have to experience the sub to appriciate the sub. :worship: On the more technical side of things, they add a whole new dimension to guitar, 3D type sound for a crushing tone. Allow me to dial my amp in for more cut and still maintain the Brootz.

Never heard the dragon. I know the cobra.

I wish I could come across one of those for a grand  That would be the shiznit

Dude, if you think the Cobra's crunch and lead channels sound identical you're crazy!!! They sound NOTHING alike.

Yeah my Cobra's crunch channel sounded way different than the Lead channel. The Lead Channel was closer to the Dragon sound than the crunch channel. Crunch channel was very open, clear , tight, dry and aggressive as all hell. Lead was looser , darker and smoother.

The Dragon is cool , I like it also. Sounds big and has more even mids than the Cobra having mostly low mids and not much upper mids.

Yea, the lead channel for me was like the perfect recto.....

The Cobra is such a cool metal amp.
I am going to snag another one these days.
I havent heard another amp yet that gets into that territory.

Well what version did/do you have? Because my Cobra Lead and Crunch sounded Identical. And I mean fucking IDENTICAL, I am not crazy. Everyone who heard it agreed. Of course they are not dialed in on the controls exactly the same but sounded the same If I wanted them to. I had an older internal biased one. Everyone who has the newer ones say the crunch/lead are way different from each other. Swear to fucking God.
