This just makes my head hurt... I am a pedal nut, In the last 15 years I have gone through new and vintage pedals the way the football team goes through cheerleaders, but I at least look for novelty. It seems that the guys at TGP, while some are great knowledgeable resources, just think if it costs more it MUST sound better!

I feel bad for the guys that got fleeced over this, but Censorship of the thread because you don't like the discussion is unacceptable IMHO.

Besides, I think the Joyo pedal looks sexy;)

I am with droptrd on this one... I think I can solder it better too!

people with more money than sense made this blow up bigger than it ever should have.

This is not the same.
I have no problem with tweaking/copying the circuits, this how it is in this industry.
But if I pay real money for something which I believed is handmade work in USA,
I want to get the real handmade pedal, not modified 30$ mass product

So if the guy took the actual circuit, swapped the parts to some breadboard and sold it for the $150 or whatever it goes for, you'd be fine with that? It would be the same thing...

No. It wouldn't. Taking someone's circiut, tweaking it and build pedals from it it ok.
This how 90% of boutique pedals world works.
But they build their pedals from scratch.
Freekish buys 30$ pedals, repaint the eclosers, change the knobs, swap 3 parts inside and sells as HIS product for 5.5x more money.

If You buy Keeley modded DS-1 it still says DS-1. Do You see the difference?

The pictures I saw showed where the original manufactures name was scratched off the PCB after it had been "degooped".

Pretty hard to explain that away.

Wow. Shadey ass shit. I wouldn't be able to sleep if I was this dude.

If you were as shady as that guy, I'm sure it wouldn't trouble you in the slightest; you wouldn't miss a bit of sleep ;)
