Any Friedman 4X12 owners put the Mesa Trak-Loc casters on their cabinet and was it a fairly easy install? Another thing is do I go 2" or 3". Thanks in advance.
I bought the locking casters that come on the bogner and splawn cabs for my Friedman. Much cheaper, I believe I paid $45 for the bases, casters and mounting screws.
I put the Mesa Track-Lock casters on my Friedman (it’s the 412/15 cab, so a little bigger) and have NO REGRETS. I’ve put put Ernie ball pop in casters on an Orange 4x12 before and don’t recommend them.
The Mesa ones come standard on Diezel cabs if that means anything to you, they use the 3” version and that’s what I put on my Friedman cab and would recommend.
Install was relatively easy if you’re comfortable drilling pilot holes.
When I had my Friedman 212, I installed them in it. Fantastic quality casters. To be safe, I added a small piece of 3/4 plywood block inside the corners of the cab where the large screw goes through for some extra safety and bracing. Worked great through 2 years of of gigs on a weekly basis.
Mesa Trac-loc all the way. 3" and you will be good for offroading. As dumb as it sounds, don't cheap out on casters. My 2x12 combos typically have casters, as they are stupid heavy.
I put Mesa 3” on my PRS 4x12. I’ve got a set of 2” as well waiting to go on some cab at some point. Honestly, nothing is built better than those Mesa casters. Mesa are the only type that have never broken down or needed replacing. My old Uberkab, while a slight step up from regular push in types, still wore out and needed replacement.
I agree the Mesa casters are the way to go. They last. They can be beer soaked and over rough terrain and never stick. They can hold a 4x12" and my 225lb ass sitting on it rolling around drunk as hell and not fail. Trust me, I may be able to find videos of this lol.
