Any if you guys try or own a Friedman BE Deluxe 50?

Its on my radar along with the Bogner Ecstacy 3435 50 watt head.

I currently have a Bogner 20th Anniversary Shiva.

I'm a big Bogner and Friedman fan.

I find some of the big high gain amps fun like Diezels, Engl, Mezabarba, etc. But, I always seem to come back to British inspired high gain amps by Bogner and Friedman, etc.

Get a vintage Marshall and a pedal; or two. Done.

Seriously though, if you have to have a Friedman the Deluxe is the way to go IMO. You can get the dark/smooth thing, or the bright raw Marshall thing, from what I can tell. Pretty flexible.

I have vintage Marshalls.
I have a 69 Plexi.

I prefer my Shiva though.
The Friedman I did play, blew me away.

Thanks man for the input.

I did enjoy playing a 2017 BE 100; that one seemed to get bright enough for me. But the Deluxe, can get even more raw/bright which was my only complaint about the Friedman stuff before. Couple dudes I know really love theirs.

I have a Ceriatone AH50 Deluxe, which is basically a copy of the BE50 Deluxe and it’s a great amp. The only thing I don’t like about it, and this is true of the real Friedman one, is that the two overdrive channels share the same EQ controls and the Sat switch affects both channels. There are times I’d really like to have a brighter crunch tone without the Sat on the BE channel, then a more saturated darker voice for leads on the HBE channel, but I can’t do that. Kind of a minor complaint but even with its flaws I’m a little spoiled by my Marshall TSL which I have set up this way

If you had a Friedman could could mod that for you and put it on a footswitch.

You think it's too bright? Can't tame the highs with EQ?

No, it can be tamed. My main point is that the BE can be dialed in to be smooth and dark, like the BE of the past or bright and cutting/raw, like a good Marshall. Very versatile.
The earlier BEs had this dark/smooth thing that couldn't be dialed out.

Nice, so very versatile.

Anyone Friedman users have comments on a comparison to Bogner amps? Namely the Shiva and various XTC amps? I have a 20th Anniversary Shiva (KT88) and am considering a Friedman.

I've owned/tried most of the Friedman amps. The BE50 deluxe was amazing, my bandmates in particular really liked that one. Personally I think the Steve Stevens V1 SS100 is his best amp. That thing is incredible and I wish I never traded it.

Mt favorite of his amps is the Naked but it's hard to find.

I have not heard the Steve Stevens amp. Thanks.

I also have been liking what I hear from the new PRS MT100!

The only Bogner I‘ve ever played that I thought had enough ‘cut’ was the Helios. I had a Shiva once I took in trade and flipped it immediately—way too smooth and dark for my taste. Never played an XTC tho. The Friedmans (I have a Smallbox and a Twin Sister) don’t quite have the bite of a good Marshall but they do their own thing and that thing is damn cool. I traded the Helios for the SB and don’t regret it one bit.

I hear ya but I haven't had cut issues with my Bogner. I do think I want a Friedman however

SB?

Smallbox. Dave’s take on the 1987 with a clean channel. I found the Dirty Shirley too round and soft but the TS allows you to tighten it up with the bright switch and adjustable resonance. I swapped the tube rec for a SS plug there as well. The SB is more aggressive/the TS is easier to play and makes a MUCH better 2ch amp. Both “Marshall-y” but I am assuming a bit more modern (and versatile) than these Suhrs which seem to be more ‘clones’ of old Marshalls from afar anyway

Thanks for the details? Which amp is the TS? Sorry, not up on all the acronyms. Lol.

Oh right, I wish that amp had one more channel, clean. I'd most likely go with the BE-50 Deluxe
