Friedman BE Deluxe 50!?

I'll second the BE50 preference over the BE100. I have both deluxe models and prefer the 50. Also, the Deluxes do have too many switches, though i did find I changed my preference on some of the switches over the last couple of years. I get why they are there, and it's cool, but I typically set it and forget it.

I haven't compared to Bogner back to back, but I haven't found a Bogner I wanted to keep. I have 3 Friedmans, a SLO30 and a SL67. They are all great. My 50 is used in the demos below in my signature if interested.

Never played a Solano I like but I do like the Friedman I've tried. Bogner and Mesa are my go to but it's time to branch out!

Willing to bet that after a year with a really great Marshall flavor, you'll never want a Mesa again, unless you're covering 90's bands or emo rock. Soldano is as close as I'll get, though I keep the gain around 3-4 (up to 10 on Crunch though). Try it! Looks like a buyers market right now!

I don't know about that. I'm 53 and have owned a lot of Marshall's including a 1969 Plexi and a couple of modified JCM 800s.
I love the 70s, 80s, 90s and some of the 2000s. I was in a few 90s cover bands which were a blast. Beyond that, it's been mostly original bands. I will admit, I'm a big 90s guy for sure.
I love my Mesas and my Bogner. I've always gotten compliments from my live tone with Bogner and they feel just right to me. I just want to get a Friedman because I am really impressed and want to add it to my collection.
I've giggled an Ecstacy and 20th Anniversary Shiva with great results.
The 101b and 20th Anniversary XTC are two of my favorite amps. I had a Solano at the same time.
Use an EQ properly and you'll have no issues cutting a mix. One of my friends is a studio and touring sessions musician on LA and Mesa is pretty much all he uses. He has a great live tone and they have a 5-6 piece band at times. I don't worry about cut. Never had an issue. That said, a Friedman sounds much different than my current amps, so it most likely will be my next purchase unless I somehow grab the new PRS MT100 which is sort of a dream amp to me. Lol.
Thanks for all your input man.

Awesome, pardon me. I was feeling pretty loose last night and was blatantly displaying my anti-Mesa boogie bias!

One of these days I might pick up a Shiva KT 88 and give it a year. What is your favorite Bogner?

The IR X is better than a smallbox (owned 2) which is better than a BE 50 -unless you want that smooth dark overly compressed thing :m17:

I love the Shiva 20th and Ecstacy.
That said, it's been a while since I've played an Ecstacy. I want to try the 50 watt 3534 and the Friedman BE-50 Deluxe.
A few guys with whom I've talked about Friedman, mentioned the BE is dizzy and they ended up keeping their Ecstacy rather than the Friedman.
That said, I think the Friedman sounds amazing.

BE100 Deluxe
and
Shiva 20th owner.

Two COMPLEATLY different flavors tone and gain wise.
Dig the Shiva but the Friedman can swing with it .EL34 vs KT88 makes a difference too.

Shiva has the Better cleans of course, and the Friedman gives a shit ton of tone shaping options.
Both can get the articulate (lower gain /cleaner voice) thing going on by throwing ((gain selection) the switches for different gain voicing.

So many variables withing each one that I could write a book on each one. Speaker choices/guitar pickups...blaw blaw blaw
I have 7 4x12's so I know the difference.

...by the way, the 100 watter has the headroom and grunt I could not get when I have the Deluxe 50 (for 3 days. Sent it back)

Good luck brother.

Oh,and just to make more confusion.
Whatever those EH EL34's that come stock in the Friedmans are.....I couldnt pull em fast enough and put in Wing=C='s

Thank you John. Big help man.

I'm also looking at a Bogner XTC 3534 50 watt, and finally the Mesa TC-100.

I know these are all different tonal flavors but I'm trying to add to my collection with tones, while different, I'll enjoy.

Interesting what you said about the 100 watts. I'm not so much worried about headroom but I like the muscular push of a 100 watt. Bogner claims they designed their 50 watt to have the feel of a 100 watt. Not sure about the Friedman in that regard.
