Friedman BE-OD pedal, is it all that ?

I’ve cycled a sh*t-ton of ‘amp in a box’ style pedals through my Arsenal over the last year or so. Bought em all used and moved the ones that didn’t really do it for me. The BE OD Deluxe is by far my favorite of the bunch. It just sounds and feels really ‘organic’ for lack of a better term. All the others started sounding distinctly ‘solid-statey’ the longer you played through them. I’m using my Deluxe in front of my non-MV 1972 Marshall 50 watt and it really is like having a 3-channel amp. I played with the internal trims, but eventually settled at high-noon for both. No loop in the Marshall, so I put my time based FX after the BE (which is all a loop does anyway). I do think the dedicated mid knob for each channel helps the pedal find the right ‘sweet spot’ with a wider variety of amps. Very Marshally in front of my 72. I messed around with it in front of a friend’s 6L6 powered Fender Twin and was coaxing more Mesa-esque tones with it. It’s a keeper for sure.

2nd day with the pedal. The cool thing is with all the gain on tap it opens up a whole new level of dynamics.
1/2 the time im playing with the volume on the guitar around 1/2 open thinking its open all the way.
Lots more dynamics coming thru the amp.
Also with a TS-9 or similar you have to crank the amp master 1/2 way open to get the goods.
Not so with the BE.
When i go to a tube screamer or other OD after playing the BE those other pedals don't even seem like they're doing anything playing at the same volume.
Dave put alot of design into this circuit.

I had the BE-OD and then later got the Deluxe. I don't mind the Tight being on a switch, it was set and forget as a knob for me anyway.

I think I like the lower gain side of the Deluxe best of all. Its my favorite of all the BE-OD options. Still have it and use it.

I bought the BE OD Deluxe and liked it enough to buy a 2nd one.
Through the clean channel of my 20th Shiva it just kills.
