FWIW, i have a 1977 JMP that dave modded to Jose specs a while back.

With an EMG equipped guitar, i can get fantastic Ride The Lightning style tones

not modern metal, but a terrific tone for those who like that era of tones
Yup...I bet it does. RTL was definitely a "modern" metal sound...But it's a great tone. I can come pretty close to nailing that sound with my JVM410H as well.

Back in the day it was man, but these days..the shit these kids are into…sheesh 😅

Rather as well call my “metal” tone The Rolling Stones special 🤣

And yea you don’t need a jose mod to get the RTL tone. A good tube based Marshall with EMGs will get you there imo

Wow I thought coming back here after some years would be cool being I like the heavier things that don’t get discussed much in that other forum. But we have people shitting openly on other members clips and that’s pretty lousy.

Here's how it works. Great, good and even just ok clips here usually get praised to high heaven. If something sounds like absolute shit, it will be addressed accordingly. Perhaps you'll fit in better at various Facebook safe space groups?

Understood. I’m out. Have fun.

lol don't leave!

Oh the barn boss laying down the secret handshake.
Leave him alone.
He’s a dude that’s stoked on his amp, let him be stoked instead of stepping on his dick.

I think the shit talking was not about the playing. Just dialing in. I need to make it up there sometime to hang out with him and @braintheory . Any of his amps properly dialed in would sound amazing. Trying to make everything sound as clanky as shit isn't really going to impress a lot of people.

I had a lot of people talk shit about my playing and my dialing in, and I learned from it and improved. I am much better at dialing an amp in than playing, but the point is not all criticism is mean spirited.

For starters, the gain should really only be turned up until a person can hear it start to come in. Then you adjust everything else. When you play at volume, the gain will come through on the power section. It wont get loose with the power section on a properly designed modern amp. But the saturation will make you think there is more gain.

Adjusting the eq is the next step. It is important to dial the eq in for the volume you are going to record at. If you have an amp that lacks in low end, you may raise the preamp gain to add it back in, but always mindful of not making it sound like staind or something with it fizzy and fuzzy as shit. If you like fuzzy fizzy messes, that is fine. But if you are dialing in a good metal tone, i would try to keep the clarity.

If the OP likes the way he dials it in, then that is fine. I hear plenty of guys that dial in a sound that i think is bad. I am not the final judge of tone

HEY ASSHOLE

WHO TOLD YOU THAT YOU COULD BE THE VOICE OF REASON ON RIG TALK TODAY

Too bad someone left R-T over something so meaningless. :dunno:

I post crappy clips all the time

I personally feel there is a difference between "Hey check out my new amp" and "Critique my tone" - ie. Read the room and support our fellow users. We need more clips not less.

Regardless of the clips that have been posted so far of this amp here and YT, it just sounds like a slightly tweaked BE DLX to me. Same price so can't hate on the amp. If Dave was charging an extra K for it, I can see the shitshow being justified. Glad I passed on it. I'll stick with my King Kong and '80 JMP2203 boosted.

It’s not as squishy and compressed as the BE100 Deluxe.
