that's my own josé based on a David Lee Roth José.
i'm more of a guitar amp builder than a player, that's why it's so sloppy. I believe that Dave could build that exact same amp but i don't know if he has the right to. It's quite similar to the vai's head, but it's more of a mix of the vai and dlr head.
but Friedman josé does seem to sound amazing too.

It's just like anything else. The market goes nuts for the first 90 days and then things calm down and people come back down to Earth. Doesn't mean it's a bad amp or anything. People just like to check new stuff out and then move it on.

Nah it's just that people were looking for that sound... but the regular josé will never give you that sound.
if you want that sound you better dig a lot only a very few handful people now the device that made that sound. The device is half of the equation half of it is what's being added to the preamp of a 68 lead. Nitro wasn't crazy he was spot on : there was some kind of distortion box hidden in ed's early setup and it was only used for a short period amount of time during their first 1978 tour because it was hell to maintain :
