I currently have a Marshall 1960A 4x12 cab with the 75 watt speakers in them. My Friedman sounds great thru them but I stumbled on a Marshall 4x12 with Greenbacks and was thinking about picking it up. How would it sound thru those speakers? I imagine much better but I know every amp is different. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thats the kind of cab I voice it with.

Hey Dave! That is great to hear man. I've only heard Greenbacks in person once and it was years ago.

By the way, since I've swapped out those preamp tubes, I've been getting much better tone. I think one of the preamp tubes must have had an issue or something. The noise is down and sounds much warmer.

I remember reading that you like to pair your mods with he 65 watt scumback speakers. I know these are modeled after the greenbacks but do you have a prefernce (factory marshall v. scumback)?

I'm using a EVH 5153 cab with mine sounds great. GBs' are on the dark side but the Marsha is on the bright side so they balance out.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Brighter amp with a darker cab should give a nice, balanced tone.

I have a cab with greenbacks and I have a cab with scumbacks m75 65 watt. They both are great. I use both cabs to voice the amps.

Absolutely love the Marsha with G12C's, killer
However, don't overlook V30's cuz they match VERY well with the amp.

Funny you say that. I just got back from Guitar Center with the cab and it is not equipped with the Greenbacks. It actually has V30s in it. Sounds killer!! It is a Marshall 1960BV Vintage cab. Took the harshness away, added low end, and just sounds perfect with my Friedman Modded Marshall.

I still have my 1960A with the M75 speakers. I'm wondering if I should run both cabs together or sell the 1960A and just keep the other one. I've never run two cabs at the same time (I know, sound like a caveman). :)
