I haven't seen many (if any) discussions about this lil Palmer-like box, but where mentioned is highly praised.

Basically an analog no-load DI box that is placed between the amp and the cab and sends your signal straight to the FOH. Nothing unseen now, except it apparently is priced nicely (100 bucks here in Eu, less in the US) and sounds good, at least for the time it hit the market (around five years ago, which is a huge amount of time for this kind of device, but whatever).

Anyone rocking one like?

I almost got one last year but don't need it now. My JJ Jr. basically had this built in and I got some killer recordings years ago just using the XLR out.

AFAIK it really is a stand alone version of the JJ Jr. built in device. Glad to hear you like it, so it's still a good and viable option despite the IR technology improving so fast.

I think it is great for what it is and a simple alternative for sure.

I don't own one, but i've used them before.

They sound quite good (especially live) and sound very good for the price point.

I don't know if I would use it for recording, but there have certainly been weirder combinations people have used to get unique sounds.

I'd like to know from people who've actually used them but I've looked in to this vs the Palmer ILM ($130) and I think the Palmer sounds a little better. They both kind of have a scratchiness to them that could work just fine live.

Based on my experience with a loadbox + ir loader one speaker tone per mix / venue doesnt always sound the best so I prefer to have a lot of options just in case. That's my only hold up but the price is good.

Probably a dumb question but does this basically convert instrument level to line level and can you technically use it backwards to reamp?

I haven’t used the Friedman one but I use a Suhr ACE all the time, which is basically the same thing but made by Suhr, emulating Suhr’s favorite Greenback 4x12 with a 3-band EQ built in, and I totally love the thing.
