Well I wasn't expecting my Friedman-Modded Marshall to arrive until today but when I came home after a long day at work, a UPS box was sitting just inside my house. Needless to say, I tore open the box, ran downstairs, and plugged it in. :)

First off, I have to thank Dave for doing such an awesome job with my amp. When I sent the amp to Dave, the headshell was in really bad shape. It was destroyed when I shipped it and Dave told me that it had been "repaired" by someone before, but obviously they didn't know what they were doing. Dave offered to fix it and did a great job. The amp made it to me just fine and packed really well.

Dave turned my amp into a monster. I literally unleashed hell in my basement last night. :D If I closed my eyes, I was playing alongside DiMartini and Lynch on the Sunset Strip. The amp retained the Marshall tone I love in the amp but just took it to a whole different level.

I have never owned an amp that cleans up like this one. It is unreal. I literally was going from cleaner than my JSX clean channel with the guitar volume knob down, to HBE, over the top-distortion. It doesn't have that sterile "clangy" sound with the guitar volume knob down. It really sounds nice.

It is true what people say about the Brown Eye. It just kicks so much ass. You hit a chord and it just sounds really clear and full, even with the volume dimed. I love the HBE as well, especially since I play at low volume, but the Brown Eye can cover alot of ground.

I have the "FAT", "C45", and "SAT" mods. The FAT mod to me, seems great for rock type stuff, rather than metal. It thickens up the sound. I really liked the SAT and C45 together, even with the HBE. When I used those together with the HBE, I just turn the gain down halfway. The articulation is insane.

I can't see how anyone would need a pedal with this amp. It sounds like it has a pedal built-in. Great, solid modded Marshall tone.

I'm just really impressed with the entire process of getting an amp with Dave. The guys at RackSystems were cool as well when they shipped the amp to me and gave me my tracking number right over the phone.

For anyone having an amp done, be patient. You can be rest assured that Dave and the guys are working on your amp. My amp was so cleaned up when it arrived to me. I think they take pride in their job and don't just do the mod, they clean up the inside of the amp, etc. I thought it was a different amp when it arrived. :)

Anyway, love the amp. If anyone is considering getting a mod done, just do it. If you like modded Marshalls you will not regret this purchase. Thanks Dave!!!

That's cool you dig the amp and had a great experience with Dave/Rack Systems... But that isn't a surprise to all of us that have worked with him and his crew! And if you need any help with anything or something tweaked, he'll stand behind it!

Every time I play my "KS" modded JMP, I just marvel at the tones! Isn't it amazing how dynamic the fucker is and how great it cleans up with the gtr vol pot?? Amazing work from this guy... I look fwd to having him mod another amp soon!

Sounds like a great amp and a great overall experience! Can't wait to get mine back!

Cool! More orgainc than the Splawn mods, right?

Now, let's hear some clips!!

Thanks guys! Yeah, I gotta get my computer's sound card working so I can hear what I recorded eventually. :) I'll get some clips done one of these days.

Definitely a step up from other amps I've owned. I think I'm eventually going to get a better 4x12 that really suits the Friedman Modded Marshall tone. Right now I have an old Marshall JCM 900 4x12 and my Genz Benz 2x12 sounds better. Would be cool to have something made for heavier tones.

Try Scumback M75-65s or Celestion G12-65s in a 4 x 12 cab! You'll dig it!

Man that is great to hear. The comment about Dave's mod retaining the Marshall feel is really important to me too. Sometimes I hear the modded stuff and it sounds really stiff and hard almost cold sounding but Dave's really retains the sound and feel I love, it just enhances it 10 fold. Congrats. My '71 will go to the grave with me.

Hey tubebury, I noticed you have alot of cabs with Scumback speakers in them. Are those basically a modded version of the speakers that normally come in a Marshall cab? I have G12-75 speakers in my Marshall JCM 900 cab. They sound ok but nothing that blows you away.

No, they're a completely different speaker. They're made for me on a proprietary basis by Weber VST.

Video of the M75's for you, with a Marsha at the LA AMP Show.

Sorry to get a little off topic here, but Im sort of having the same issue. Im using a v30 cab, and a thiele 1x12 with the evm12l.. Somedays I like it and somedays I don't. Would you recommend the m75 100w speaker in a mesa thiele cab? Thanks

I see Jim (that's MR. Scumback to you! LOL!!) jumped on that question and I don't blame him! His speakers are a totally different animal from anything else made by anyone... If you review all his info, he acquired a shit-load of old Celestion G12 speakers, did his homework, picked the best of the best and had Weber build spkrz to HIS blueprints/specs. When I first bought a pair, I made the mistake of assuming he just bought Weber's spkrz and shipped 'em out as HIS, but Jim, uh.. edumicated me! :gethim: LOL! The Scums are killer, with all my amps, but esp with the modded Marshalls.. read up on Jim's work.. you will learn a lot!

Yes, I have a M75-100W in a 1 x 12 cab (but it's an open back) and it rips! I don't see why it wouldn't sound good in your cab! It'll be a big improvement over that V30!
