Friedman Runt 50 demo here

I'm on my iPhone and the vids come up, on my laptop though they dont

I thought it sounded good. I probably would eq it different for what I like, but seemed to be pretty versatile and covers a lot of ground.

Looks like a browser issue as the vids are fine on my Mac in Firefox but show up as a black bar in Safari

Pretty cool to have amps that go from a lower watt/priced version up to the more expensive one in the lineup. Of course these are not hand wired so I guess that is the biggest difference. The XLR thing is interesting IMO. I agree about the vid not being as good as it could be. I liked Pete Thorn's BE-100 pedal video better than this one.

Thanks Paul... was gassing hard for a clip before I 'maybe' clunk down a payment plan option and grab a 50watt Runt. That clip hasn't stopped me from still considering a Soldano HR25 or Redplate Magica tho :D

Thanks again bro. Cheers

If the 2 clips so far are any indication of how these Runts really sound the Soldano Hot Rod 25 kicks the shit out of them.

I've been kind of GASSING for one of these 50 watt Runts since I heard about them but not so sure now. Going to have to hear more or try one in person to make a real judgement of course. Not really loving what I am hearing though. It's not horrible, just not really what I was expecting/hoping for.

are these things "made in china" and " assembled in LA" or what?

Made completely in the USA. I'm waiting for some forum members to post some real world videos. I am interested in the Runt 50 but just not sure yet. The only thing I'm really not liking so far is the low end doesn't seem tight.

Really? I guarantee Dave wouldn't put out an amp with a floppy bottom end.

Not made in China, but not made in American either, if you know what I mean.

Now a days, there is so much gear 'assembled' in the USA that is mostly off shore parts, that all anyone should care about, is if you like the gear or not.

It shouldn't matter where they claim it's made any more. Those days are looooong gone.

If mesa can do it for those same prices why cant friedman? assembled can mean installing a friggin handle..just seems a little misleading to me and too high priced

Oh, and what's your guarantee worth? A refund if someone doesn't like the amp?

That's easy. The more expensive the price, the better the tone.

It's the kiss of death for a boutique builder of any sort to reduce their prices.

That's why a Tom Holmes humbucker at $300 is MUCH better than a Dimarzio 36th Anniversay humbucker at $60.

I suspect the boards are populated in China, then everything is assembled here in the States.

As said above, these days it really doesn't matter where it's made. Quality from overseas manufacturing has increased greatly recently.

I couldn't agree more.

In a lot of cases, made in China is overtaking made in America in quality.

That made in American strat that people are paying premium dollars for is mostly parts from overseas & assembled in the USA & the customer pays more simply because it says made in USA on the headstock.

Now a days, if it sounds good to you, then it makes no difference where it's made. However, I hate when people charge premium USA prices for products that are mostly Chinese.

Yes, it truly sucks.

if you guys knew how much of the AxeFx was made overseas, you'd turn red.

Having said this, I have the Ax8 & I love it.
