How many have made the conversion one way or the other? I used to be guitar->amp->cab, but now I'm finding I have a lot more fun playing with echo, chorus, Univibe (ESPECIALLY Univibe!), etc. Honestly I don't know what I'd do without echo at this point...

Right now I'm thinking of grabbing an EQ to throw in the loop for lead boosts (or crazy scooped METALZ rhythm), and an MJM London Fuzz. Not to mention a Voodoo Labs GCX and Ground Control Pro to simplify the switching. And rather than constantly looking for the next best amp (like I used to), it's a lot cheaper to drop money on a new pedal every month :D

What FX are you guys GASing over?

Funny you should post this tonight! As my effect GAS is starting up today again!!!! :aww:

As a kid, I was into EH effect pedals, the cheaper ones as that's all I could afford. I used my trusty Big Muff Pi (bought new in the '70s, still have it in my parent's basement, probably rusted to nothing) through the '80s till I switched to bass (mid-80's) and rack gear (in the early '90s). My effect GAS culminated in the Axe-Fx Ultra (much more than I needed so I thought) sold it.

Now, I ordered a JangleBox (compressor/sustainer), have a Zoom G2 (using for digital effects, and digital amp approximations) and a ToneLab LE (for vintage Vox tones), and I'm thinking that's more than enough. Then, I'm on another board and there's a topic on tube overdrive / distortion pedals. Some high end boutique stuff being discussed in the $300+, even $600+ range (that's about the price of a used ADA MP-1 3TM mod or an MP-2 or more...) then I find the EH English Muff'n. So now, I'm GASing for it or something similar - still doing the research. If this keeps up, I'll be spending more on pedals, for less capabilities, than my Ultra! WTF?!

Axe FX ~ wish it was not as much as a amp....

I have a Roger Mayer Voodoo Vibe, Univibe is mega / urber cool.
If you want to get some "crazy" sound check out a Zvex Fuzz Factory.
Zvex makes some very cool stuff.....

Check out some of the vids....
ooh wha and fuzz factory are a good start.
Just click on the pedal you want to check out.
With this and a envelope filter / delay I can get some great Analog synthesizer sounds.

Well not so much the pedal route but I went from SG--->Rivera full stack to super rack. I'm ditching the Line 6 racks for the Gmajor2 in a few weeks (I've still got you on my list for the Mod Pro vchizzle). My current infatuation is modules. More or less same ballpark as pedals.

Vibes, good ones, just own. So much fun and the bigger the throb the better for me.

Yeah I am an fx junkie and I am always digging for the more vintage stuff. Hope to get an H3000 someday.

I don't have a lot of personal experience with all the flavors of Vibes out there, but I have to say I really, really enjoy the Fulltone Micro Deja-Vibe. The fact that you can switch between the 100% vintage UV circuit and a more modern "boosted" sound is so awesome.

Of course it helps that Robin Trower is one of my favorite blues guitarists of all time :)

I messed with more than a few .... that is one of the best.
Fulltone stuff is all pretty good stuff.

From the owner of a Clyde Standard and Mini Deja-Vibe, I have to agree :) Pricey but worth it IMHO. Not to mention the local GC carries their full line, which means I can usually talk them down about $40-$50

I have limited in the room experience with the Fulltone vibes but the Tubevibe I have is just the fucking bomb, the wet swirls it has with a pushed MArshall is just bliss.

I'm really gassing for a nice flanger and a vibe. I'm still kicking myself for not picking up a foxrox tzf flanger right before production was put on hold. I could of got it for $350 and they go for over $600 right now :aww: . Hopefully he'll start building these again soon :poke: .

Edit: Can't forget the Red Witch Moon Phaser :D

I like Fulltone stuff. When I listen to Mike Fuller's music, I love the tones he gets, and I usually like the tone of all of his pedals. I've owned most of them by now. :scared:

Currently GAS'ing for a Suhr Minimix, a trem pedal, and I might pick up another Hendrix Fuzz Face.

Once those are added, I'll look something like this...

Tube Screamer->MXR/CAE Boost->Mini Deja Vibe->Octavio->(Fuzz Face?)->Teese Wizard->Volume Pedal->(Trem?)->Amp->TC G-Sharp in loop for delay/verb

It just occurred to me that the G-Sharp has trem and I haven't even checked it out yet.

I've never been a huge fx guy in the sense of wanting one of those boards with 18 different OD's on it and 4 different chorus pedals, but fx play a big part in my favorite tones. Thinking about Hendrix and of course the wah and vibe and fuzz, and all of the wacky flanging and echo and panning stuff he did in the studio. EVH and his phase/flange/verb. EJ and his chorus/echo on the clean side and some cool stuff like the flanging on High Landrons. Satch has always made cool use of effects, IMO.

I don't think fx can make a bad rig sound good but they can be the difference in taking a good amp and guitar over the top, I think.

im diggin on octavers right now...i really like the EH Micro POG , works great for those evil sounding organ sounds and i just discovered an old DOD octoplus which tracks wonderfully.

I went thought a very long period in the late 90s and early 00s were I was strictly a guitar->cable->amp guy. Then I got into a band where I needed some delay and chorus. Now I'm a god damned effects junkie. However, in the past few months, I have been trying to scale down to just a few really nice effects pedals. Going for a more "quality of tone" setup.

I am probably going to ditch one of my overdrives for a distortion pedal. Debating between the new Hermida Distortion (maker of the Zendrive and Mosferatu) and the new Barber Dirty Bomb. I am leaning toward the Dirty bomb as its half the cost of the Hermida Distortion.

At some point I want to pickup a fuzz and univibe type pedal. I am thinking the BBE soul vibe for the univibe. No idea on the fuzz.

I go through phases like everyone else. I go from concentrating on amps, to speakers/cabs, to guitars, to pickups, to effects, and round again.

I think the whole point of that pedal is to have fun :D

Personally I'm entertaining an MJM London Fuzz. Especially considering the price. I want me a big, fat, Muffy kind of fuzz for some leadwork...

Zvex Fuzz Factory / Wa / Vibe / Flexi 50 is all I need .....
I have used this at a lot of gigs.
Vibe with a plexi type amp is about as cool as it can get.

Big +1 on that, just glorious.
