The most exciting thing in that big ol' stack of hardware is the Fryette branded GP3.
Holy rusted metal Batman! I did not even notice that the GP3 was Fryette named! If only they were making them again, or a new preamp... :(

I think it sounds better than the 2/50/2 from that clip, in that application at least.

yeah, but I have no idea what this thing is

Mono-Poweramp? Looks different than the Fryette LXII

3 knobs on the left, Power & Stand By Switch on the right

I have only used rack fx so im a noob, but I have a question...Lets say we have a fryette power amp for example and a preamp design rack mount based off their pitbull or D or any amp at that.

wouldnt it sound exactly the same as buying the amp head that it was based from (given the power amp was the same as well)?
No ... but similar.

I know I am guessing / interested also....

Yeah man, I saw this on FB as well, looks killer, I love it!

Of course, I've always been a fan of Stevie's work.

Surprised there isn't more talk about this. I called a local dealer for a price and ETA. Not firm on a date but the pricepoint is on target with what I was expecting. This is a pretty big deal IMO. I'm pumped.

Any news on this thing??

I'm more interested to have a documented snapshot of the frequency response/range for all 3 poweramps coming out of Steve's camp.

2/90/2 frequency range/response and THD at varied dB
2/50/2 frequency range/response and THD at varied dB
LX2 frequency range/response and THC at varied dB in "enhanced" and "flat" mode

Really this is what we need to see. And it would do Steve and the Fryette camp a hella lot of good to get this OUT there in order to capitalize on all the SS poweramp drooling that's happening along with the Matrix/yada-yada snax users.

Mojo

This is pretty sweet. I've been thinking of going gp3 for a while now (selling the CLX), but I didn't want to have all that extra weight. Damn... looks and sounds killer, and you really do not need anything over 40-50 watts anyway.

Hopefully it's going to be made in China so "mere mortals" can afford one.

Why is it so damned silent..... No new official info from Fryette, No new official info from Atomic...... I just have the feeling things are changing. For some for the better, for others for the worse.

Anyone know the release date and price on this?

From what I was told, it'll probably be in November sometime. MAP will be $1,299.

This amp is really cool. i just wonder if its worth waiting for or finding a used 2502? solely on price.

I'd spent some time communicating with Fryette yesterday, and it's really interesting to get their perspective of this whole "if you have a digital modeler, you best be getting a solid state amp" yada yada yada. Basically, the Axe-FX religion has its disciples frowning upon anything "tube". So this is where the need for matrix and a host of other SS poweramps was fostered. But is it truly factual and warranted? Steve definitely thinks not - and it's not because of the business he's in... He knows the science of sound, period. And as he has said "go ahead and try the SS brands out, and then try ours out - any of ours - whether it's the LX, the 50, or the 90. More than likely you'll find it simply responds better and sounds better".

I have to agree.

Check these out if you really want to get into it. Steve explains the nature of amplified sound and the intricacies of modelers with amps and speakers. I do find it kinda funny how there's a definite lack of enthusiasm for anything Fractal, but he remains polite and respectful.

Hifi audiophiles prefer tubes and want accurate, clear sounding poweramps... I don't really get why the Axe FX crowd is obsessed with solid state since they seem to want the same thing. It's a flavor of the month thing... Matrix will fall out of flavor as soon someone creates something new, maybe this Fryette will be what pushes them out of the limelight, who knows. Weird bunch over there on FAS...

I used a 2/50/2 with my AxeII for a while nearly a year ago and it was ok, my amps still sounded better to my ear's.
The weight of the 2/50/2 was not worth the difference in tone for me in the end, just as well carry around a head that get's me 100% of the tone i want.......The amp sounds in the AxeII have gotten way better since then(IMO) so now Im excited to try it with this new power amp....fingers crossed because Id just love to downsize to a 4 space rack and a cab for gigging.......some say im a dreamer
