Apples and oranges, tone wise. Both are yummy, but everyone will have a preference.
I have never bonded with a Mesa mark amp like a lot of people do. I hear some great tones from members here, most of which have a vast amount of information on how to get the best tone from those amps.
A best bro who is good with Mesa tone advised me for years that I would love the pittbull ultralead over everything else. He obviously knew my style fit that amp as he was spot on. It has been my main go-to amp for at least 10 years now. I have had several Marks and a modded recto since, but they were not as enjoyable as my ultralead with the eq.
That same guy is now playing a VHT Deliverance with the Mesa eq pedal in the loop. He is crazy in love with that rig. I'll see if I can get him to chime in here.
This would be me.... and yes I've had a TON of gear over the years, and this rig is pretty much perfect for me, as far as the amps in questions, I would also say apples and oranges as well, completely different tones. The UL is aggressive as hell, tight as a gnats ass, and unforgiving as fuck, if your playing isn't on point it'll let you and everyone else know, incredible amps, tone for days.... The Mesa, well you have this one, so you know it...
Really depends on your style and what you prefer tone-wise, if you can play them side by side would really decide for ya, I can't really decide between the two, both are amazing amps, but really different.
My rig is kind of the best of both worlds, Deliverance 120 with the Mesa EQ pedal in the loop, also running a boost in front, gives me alot of tonal options out of a single channel amp. still tight as hell, not UL tight but tighter than alot, the EQ thickens things up quite nicely, and the boost just turns it into a fire breather....
