The digital components should be in a removeable module that can be replaced, upgraded or removed if it can be repaired. That would make these tube/digital amps more viable. IMO.
I know, like a 1 or 2 U unit capable of producing multiple effects? That could then be patched into the amp via some sort of switchable loop? We could call it a multi-effects or something

I'm not nearly as pissed off about this think as y'all seem to be, but there is a pretty good argument for splitting out the digital, or else implementing a graphic EQ using digital potentiometer ICs or something that could be serviced even if it involved one funky part.

I like that it's a rack unit. My JP-2C is also a rack head. Wish more tube amps were offered in rack formats... A Fractal effects-only 1U rack unit would be great too.

I love the idea of racks. But rack doesn't have to mean digital. We said it several times, if he remade the ultralead as an all analog rack only, people would have still been excited

He speaks of shipping gear. But his many touring musicians (today's guitarists) that he speaks of probably take their racks with them to tour. How does a few pounds of this unit make that much a difference... I imagine they have multiple rack units in that rack

Yep. Although many people would have preferred a full sized head, even just the rack unit without the digital bullshit would have had wildly more buzz instead of the tentative wet fart it has been

When he talks about weight it’s purely about the cost of shipping it on a tour or being hauled around in a truck. Not dragging it around town.

You guys seem weirdly closed minded on this product. It’s kind cool to see some pushing the envelope trying to move forward. It seems to try to addressing a lot fo concerns of gigging players while retaining an analog signal path with digital control in a really practical form factor. Trying to take advantage of some modern advances but still keep the aspects that bring the toanz.

Reaction here is apparently it’s not a 70 year form factor, must suck.

For 4 grand? seriously?

This costs almost twice as much as the badlander rack, axeiii mark 2 turbo and the soldano x88ir, and three times as much as a helix or kemper rack. Those are the sorts of things this is competing with.

If you've got the expendable income for a future paperweight by all means, get excited and share the tones you get with it. I unironically believe it will probably sound good.

But pretending that this is

1. Pushing the envelope in any real way or
2. Addressing anyones gigging concerns

is completely fucking laughable
