Just came across this thread, and I think this might be my first ever rig talk post. Yeah!! Anyway, the Fuchs Mantis is a fantastic sounding head. Ive got one as well as a Herbert, so I figured Id fill you in with a quick comparison.
The Diezel is obviously a saturated compressed high gain amp. Warm, and thick with a lot of lows. Mid cut makes it extra versatile and mean. The Fuchs head comes from the other end of the spectrum. Still a high gain head, but far less compressed. Like an Uberschall, you have to push the presence to get the full aggressive potential out of the amp. Very biting tone with amazing string clarity, and a fair amount of low end, but tighter string response than the Herbert. Mids are really present, and hard to get rid of while keeping the amp mean, unlike the Herbert, which comes alive with the mid cut. The Herbert sounds very refined, while the Mantis sounds more raw. The two heads play really nicely in a stereo rig, seeing as they compliment each other's strengths and weaknesses. I love both!
