Agreed...BTW, I'm thinking with different pickups, guitar, cab, etc., it might be a different conclusion.

Carl is (in my opinion) a very gifted player with a great ear for certain tones, however, he seems to feel the need to be a complete asshole to people for no reason I can comprehend. I will continue to enjoy his killer covers and tones while ignoring his general asswipe attitude.

Ok... if he attacks me perhaps I'll fire something witty back if the mood strikes... but only in fun... nothing said on these boards bothers me enough to really get mad...

A few observations. The fact that the JVM recorded as well as it did at TV volumes says alot.

Having two lead channels, differently voiced...3 modes apiece.....right there it simply has the others beat. Combine that with a Crunch channel with it's own 3 modes and a Clean with it's own 3 modes, makes this the most versitile head I ever played.

I know it doesn't sound anything like a Marshall but the Roadking has 4 channels with 3 modes per channel and that's been out for years. But Boogie needs to allow the player to footswitch between those modes, although the modes on the Roadking sound much different from eachother than the modes on the JVM. The vintage mode sounds a lot different from modern.

I know the Roadking isn't your type of amp, it's not exactly a Marshall ripoff though like so many others though but in certain ways it's more versatile than the JVM. It also allows you to assign particular power tubes to certain channels and certain cabs to certain channels.

But the JVM gives you more flexibility at your feet. Now if Boogie could just make the 4th channel of the Roadking to sound like a IIC+ and give it a graphic EQ then i would be set. But that ain't gonna happen.

The VHT, Splawn...all that stuff is great and if their voicing is the greatest thing you ever heard, then that's your tone....but for pure Marshall? Nothing touches this thing. It pisses on previous Marshalls.

Hey Carl,

I sent you an email last night while listening to your JVM clips. I loved the clean and mild breakup tones the best, but I think the higher gain sounds would benefit from more output volume. Don't get me wrong. That amp has me twitchin' like everybody else, but I didn't quite hear anything just yet that would get me away from my Fuchs TDS. But, those amps are apples and oranges anyways...two different worlds. I could easily justify one of each! I love the layout and features on the JVM and the built-in MIDI. I'd pay a lot to take the TDS sonic spectrum and spread it out over four channels (or even three!) the way that Marshall did with theirs!
