Fuzz pedals, what are you using?

Over on the TGP, fuzz pedals often brought up, here on RT they are rarely mentioned. I am looking to get a SI fuzz face (Hartman BC108) and Big Muff type (Blackout Effectors Musket) fuzzes in the future. I may order the Musket today even.

Just curious what fuzzes you guys are using and how much you use them? If you use a multi-effects device, feel free to chime in....

Not really a FUZZ pedal but more OD.
I like the Danelectro Transparent Overdrive.
Thing is insane.
Makes a rig sound HUGE!
Guess it is a rip off of the Timmy pedal.
Works for me and it was about 40 bucks!

Z~Vex Fuzz Factory .... I have owned many. This is by far my favorite.

Subdecay Flying Tomato. Very versatile, great fuzz pedal, not too spendy.

Got a Timmy, it is a great pedal. Not a fuzz though :gethim: :D :D

So how much are you guys using your fuzz pedals, would you consider it a core pedal or just a spice?

Spice .... this is true of all pedals for me. I have always liked the sound of guitar/amp/cab and nothing else better than anything. I have lots of pedals .... the wa and vibe is the only thing I use much. I have never heard a boosted amp sound as good as without the boost in my ears.

I like the Keeley Fuzzhead a lot, so much so that I bought 2 of them.

I picked up a custom built triangle era big muff pi clone in a trade a couple months ago and it sounds good for what it does but I've never been into fuzz too much myself. The guy I got it from paid $150 to have it made and he mostly used it for soloing but I can't fit it into my setup. I've probly used it ten times in 3 months. Not the pedals fault I'm just not a fuzz guy :dunno: It's about to be for sale if anyone wants a good fuzz with a lead boost switch

I read an article in one of the guitar magazines where it quoted Kirk Hammett as saying that was his favorite fuzz

I know Hammett likes to rock a TubeScreamer into a Fender with a strat also. Said if he could have one rig for life that would be it. He must own at least one of every pedal made.

The swollen pickle sounds great with an analog delay. Very Gilmour-like

Yeah I read an article a while back that said every solo he ever recorded was done with pretty much the same setup, a tubescreamer into a modded marshall, even as far back as the kill em all days. Obviously I don't know how true that is but I believe it's not far off base.

Love me some fuzz!

My favorites are Tonebenders and Buzzarounds circuits, so I have lots of different versions of those.
I also have a couple fuzzface and bigmuff type circuits.
I build my own fuzz pedals, but I do own a bunch from other manufacturers.
Between my own and others I must own about 30 fuzz pedals.

Some of my "other builder" favorites are MJM, JMI, Colorsound, Earthquaker.

Does Hammett even use a fuzz with Metallica? I can't think of a song that has a fuzz at the moment.

Heard great things about the swollen pickle. The name is great too

I had lotsa fuzzes but now I have Skreddy Zero, which is awesome for me, Boot-Leg Jazz Fuzz, great too but more soft, warm and sound like mix of od and fuzz, Carl Martin The Fuzz- the most versatile fuzz/distortion/od ever and LAA Custom Pink Wall which replaced Skreddy Top Fuel and Lunar Module out of my rig. Also original RAT 79' that can be used as great fuzzy machine

The Pickle is great.
It gets a lot of flack because it's machine made, but I find my buddy's Pickle sounds better than my Musket.

edited.

 What else would be in there besides a PCB? A turret board? Does anyone actually expect a circuit like the Swollen Pickle (a Big Muff variant) to be PTP or something?

I worded it wrong, what i meant was it was a machine soldered board w/ lots of run of the mill parts VS a hand build one. The inside of the Way Huge reissues look like a computer.

My bad...I was having a PCB vs PTP amp discussion with a friend at the same time as replying to this thread :)

And if you want some nice turret board builds...check out Skinpimp ;)
