so in my fx loop chain i have the following:

send>>decimator g string>>hardwire chorus>>and line 6 dl4>>ernie ball volume pedal>>return

plugged straight in everything sounds fine. i engage the fx loop with no pedals turned on except the isp and everything sounds find. i activate either the chorus or delay and all the sudden my tone gets all lo-fi sounding and theres a volume decrease. i turn off the loop everythings back to normal or if i turn the pedals off with the loop its normal. i messed with the send level knob and it didnt change anything. now just having the fx loop on i hear a change in the tone. anyone have any idea whats going on?

Are both pedals capable of operating at line levels (+10db)? Or are they instrument level only (-4db)? If they're instrument level only then they'll have a hard time coping with the signal levels present in the loop.

As for the shift in tone, it's natural due to the extra buffers and gain stages required for the loop to function correctly. It's the standard trade off... direct tone usually sounds best, but if you want to have delay (or certain other effects) you have to sacrifice a little to gain a lot.

im honestly not sure. its the exact same setup i had with my mark IV and i never had any problems with it.

Dumb question, but are you powering any pedals with batteries?

nope all pedals are powered with voodoo pedal power 2+ even the dl4 with the special cable. all the pedals in front of my amp are fine and cause no problems, just the two in the loop. even the isp in the loop and the volume pedal dont cause it to do anything weird.
