No way I would ever need a boost. My lead channel can cut a dimensional rift through the space-time continuum. It would be like boosting Hiroshima.

hiroshima + 6 blocks

im going to hell :aww:

Is the sound actually audibly clipping or is just the clipping indicator light lighting up warning you could be on the verge of clipping. My G-System will light up warning me that I could be on the verge of clipping but the sound is actually fine. Thought it was the same way in my rig when I used the G-Major as well.

Good point.. the red light indicates clipping but I don't really hear it until well past that point. I wonder if I should just say screw it and play with it in the red.

That's what I do haha

Edit: I will say tho that this morning I when I got off work I went and messed with the force and came really close to the right volume. Still less but it's still damn loud and definitely louder than before. My input is waaaay lower than my output. There is a screen in I/O setup that gives u the values of the in and out level and mine are -17 in and 7 out. I know it will be different for u but maybe that will help a little?

I really wouldn't classify this as a weakness of the G-Major...if anything it's an advantage. Do what the above post said and change the input level from Pro to Consumer. Set the input level to where the clip indicator lights up once in a while (this is fine) and then compensate the level of the entire system with the output knob by toggling the bypass function of the G Major until the level of the unit bypassed and the unit engaged is even.

There have been a lot of mentions of the input levels but it is also a good idea to set the output range to 20db. You will get some volume back by doing that.

Ok, if I change it to consumer from pro, where is the boost coming from? It gives me a lot of hair on top.. furthermore, is it under global settings that I can change my output range? I think it was in the same place where I was able to go from Pro to consumer..

I bet your probably good to go. See if you can set it to unity gain without it audibly clipping. If it sounds good rock on. If not back to the ole drawing board.

I stand corrected again... I think my loop is messed. With it in the loop I have twice the noise. I also can't get anywhere close to the amps level...as soon as it goes into the loop it cuts my amps volume big time even with the bypass or not. You giys using serial or parallel loop?

serial

Sounds like the loop is the culprit. If you have a parallel loop you can try running it in killdry but that will really only make use of time based fx. What amp are you running with it? If it is a tube buffered loop you might try swapping the 12ax7 out.

For the record the unit is designed for series operation. The killdry feature is for use in a parallel loop.

Honestly I think its how the loop in the lynchbox is wired. I had a Randall RM100 for 5 years and it seamed super picky with things in the loop, really easy to peak the effects and level. Took forever to get things to work right. I had a Rocktron Multivalve that worked pretty well after some tweaking to settings.

I Currently use the GM2 with my Mesa Mark IV and have no issues at all and my levels are perfect. I liked the Randall but the loop drove me nuts. It didnt like my Eventide Timefactor pedal in the loop either, granted i didnt spend a lot of time trying to get it to work but it kept peaking the pedal no matter what setting i tried. My other guitarist is still using a Rm100 so im hoping i can get the GM2 to work with it because he wants to get one as well
