G System vs G-Major 2

I'm currently running a G-Major 2 with my 5153 for all my effects. I mainly use detune and different delays. I don't think the G-Major 2 sounds bad, but I really like the idea of not having a rack sitting on top of my head. I also like the idea of being able to turn effects on and off with the G System foot controller- something I can't do with my old ADA MPC. I had a Nova System for a while and felt that the effects were actually cleaner on it than the GM2. And I loved the ability to hit the boost function for solos.

I guess I'm asking is it worth it to upgrade to the G System? I look at it like upgrading my old MIDI board and the processor... at least that's what I'm telling myself...lol. I know a lot of Pros are using the GS in their setups, and I really dig the tones that people like Ian Thornley are getting for them. Anyway... any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Can't you just get a used Ground Control Pro? Doesn't solve the rack issue but it allows you to turn effects off and on and saves you about $800

Yes, I agree about a multiple function midi board. I use a liquid foot controller. However, it sounds like you want to get rid of the rack and try something new.

Fellow member Victim5150 has been running 5150III's and the G-system for years and knows just about all there is about how these two work and sound together. You may want to give him a PM.

Why not just use the nova? It does everything you said you wanted it to do (and it will switch your amp channels too) and the nova is the best sounding of all of them....
