Just curious if anyone uses H30s and if they find the bass a bit lacking compared to say v30s. Wondering what a fellow can do to boost that bass response while keeping that sweet mid and upper end. Seems like just upping the bass control on my Marshall doesn't really give it the wallop that v30s get.

You know what, thats exactly what I am reading.. and those are rare and spendy compared to 'normal' ones.

Maybe mix a couple v30 with your g13h- 30? I've heard of people getting good results with that combo.

Although I can't compare them to V30s since I haven't owned them, I think the H30s have PLENTY of low end in my EVH 5150III 2x12 cabinet. They handle the low end of the 5150 much better than my G12-65s. Maybe its the cabinet?

Yep, go 55hz or maybe check out the Creambacks. At 75 watts they're supposed to have a little more bottom.

This. I have a bud who swears by this combo...

My vote too. Always loved that combo.

are you sure you're missing bass and not a prominent midrange?
the scumback h75's I had in a 1960a cab were definitely bassier than the mesa v30's they replaced
how about mesa black shadows?
those are FAT and still have some bite

I have the V30/G12H30 70th Anny's in my Splawn in an X pattern and they have plenty of bottom end. Great combo. Highly recommended. I also have G12H Heritage 75's on the top and G12H Heritage 55's on the bottom in my Marshall BHW 4X12. Awesome combo with plenty of bottom end/thump. I do have a pair of Creamback H75's sitting around that I might pair with the V30s in my Cameron cab or buy two more. Here is a description of the three Celestion H series. Scumbacks are another option too.

I've had both side by side. First off, the Heritage 75 is 30 watts. Creamback is 75 watts.

Heritage is brighter, but actually smoother on the top. The Creamback has some grit in the highs. The Heritage has a leaner low end that makes it tighter. In comparison, the Creamback has a really big low end.....like an Anniversary H30 on roids. There is a ton of high mids on the Heritage while the Creamback seems almost scooped in comparison.......but not as scooped as the Anniv H30.

I prefer the Creamback and they mix perfectly with V30's. I DO NOT like the 65watt small magnet Creamback.[/i]

I use the Heritage G12H30' in my BHW Cab and love them with my Soldano Avenger. I was about to give up on those speakers until i got the Avenger. I run all my controls at noon except for the preamp i run a 1 O'clock. sounds massive.

Just curious, what Marshall amp are you using?

I have the v30 and h30 in an X in my Marshall cab, I never tried all h30's, but the bass is good playing through a metal panel Marshall. My favorite cab is the old Hiwatt, iirc it's a mid 70's and has a small port in the back, that thing has a lot of bass and sounds really sweet.

find the real ones on line ( vintage...and pricey) ...the greenback versions have a shit ton more bass than the blackbacks, but you can mod the blackbacks to be exactly the same..
