TGP is a cess pool of know-it-alls, tone bullshit, and elitists, along with mods who are heavy handed about people posting their opinions. The place SUCKS BALLS.

I'd rather hang out on /b/ than go there if that gives you any idea of my opinion of that shit hole.

I got banned from there years ago because I stated in the nicest possible way that I didn't understand the whole "dumble worth more than house" thing, and thought it was all hype and not my thing anyways..... BANNED FOREVER, at least my old moniker. :D

I noticed that there are three types of groups over there:

1. The Dumble/59 burst uber cork sniffer elitists.
2. The my Line 6 and Epiphone sounds just as good as a Dumble budget-elitists
3. The lowest forms of life on TGP, us guys that like high gain heads and pointy guitars. We get no respect from both 1 and 2.

I have no problem with someone putting their opinion out there and putting clips out showing their findings. The reason I found the thing funny was the idea of his fawning minions buying and selling every amp he does. I mean, I kinda get it when it is some legendary guitar hero, but some average dude on a message board - HILARIOUS! He seems to have pissed some of them off with the whole Dumble cloning adventure though...

TGP has its place. The Emporium rules. Unless youre looking for high gain heads....and pointy guitars ;) But for hihg end guitars, cabs, pedals and rack gear, its a great place to score nice used gear.

Truth. I love it here, but this place has its own "good ol' boys club" if you know what I mean, and I'm sure some of you do. There are times when certain guys post up a clip or an opinion and everyone kisses their ass, even if it's pretty mediocre. Then there are times that some killer stuff gets put up by a newer guy or someone who isn't in "the club" and it gets ignored or just briefly recognized. But I suppose you'll have that everywhere. This is still the best forum around by a mile. :thumbsup:
 
I'm still new around here (lurked around occasionally, though), but I come to RT more than other websites. It's more relaxed and seems like a slightly older crowd than many other sites. It's smaller so there's a 'homey' feel to it compared to TGP, and there's less of those annoying bedroom elitist attitudes you get everywhere else.

There is a pedalboard thread somewhere on another forum where someone remarked about how many pros used Boss pedals, incredulously asking how they could use such inferior gear given their fame, fortune, etc. Basically the gist seemed to be that these pros must be ignorant of 'good' tone, if they were using inferior gear instead of high-dollar boutique stuff. I mean really... How many decades of great music were made using this 'inferior' gear before the internet came along and created this huge 'boutique' market? Don't get me wrong, I love 'cork-sniffer' gear as much as the next guy, but I've seen plenty of modern/recent players using gear that would not pass muster on a lot of forums, and they sounded damn good for far less money. Sometimes I think too much focus is put on the gear than the actual art and skill behind the playing, at some forums.
