Thanks! The day Rig-Talk has too many Lynch threads is the day it ceases to be Rig-Talk! There's a lot of opinions but not much conclusive. It probably was as simple as what you said.

Also, I say Two Notes has a Lynch cab pack. I wonder what cab he used?

The biggest issue is that we can never recreate the chain... you've got a board sitting between the mics and what you hear. If you really have a boner for those tones, you might as well use a tonematching software that will capture the EQ curve and spit out an image of it.

If not, you have to go with the most common consensus which is SLO/ Superlead. The SLO is lower in the mix from what I have heard. The main driver is the Superlead/ Purple Marshall. Then you have the cabs. He may not have used his own, he might have used what was there. He also double tracked rythms to make them thick. It's an amazing album. That is his masterpiece so to speak so it's hard to narrow down the magic to specific pieces. Especially seeing as he is a guy that constantly switched up pedals he put in front of his amp.

2nd Lynch Mob album is also really good and has a more dry simplified tone. For that one at least, it was mostly a Marshall. Less double tracking. More straight up.

Again, no guarantees this is it, but Jay is an obsessed Lynch nerd and he did a good job of catching the " essence" of that album. Might give you ideas:

I get all that but still interested in how he got his lead sound.

The 2nd album is the one I'm asking about.

Always dug this clip. Definitely delay and and what sounds like a slight chorus.

I've seen that video a couple of times. The pickup appears to me his Duncan Demon -- has hex pieces in the slug coil bobbin

Wicked Sensation had great playing and tone! The 2nd album lead tones were odd at first to me because of the cleaner tone but I like them. Not sure if it's what I would choose for Lynch but I like it for myself.

I recall reading in one of the guitar magazines that he was using Warren DeMartini's Marshall amp and wanted to buy it from him. I think it was a Jose modded one.

Like I also said in the linked post... don't chase album tones. Get close enough. Also said in this thread.. boost a Marshall. Play with mic placement. Balance a 57 with R121 ( classic pairing) and nudge up the 121 for the "warm" and " fluid" tone. When George says he didn't want to touch anything, he also means mics and how they were placed. Don't touch the " chain" not just amp settings.

and ... your welcome! :P

Always heard it was a Slo 100 blended with a Plexi -likely to one he 'Borrowed' from Warren De! George LOVED the invaision of your privacy album tone -who doesn't?
There is a video out there where George talks about the Marshalls being more 'sweet' than the Slos :m17:

Side note I saw Dokken open for Dio in 83 ish Epic!! Also on Monsters of rock tour after Metallica who blew everyone away!

A friend of mine ran into George at an LA club some time in the late 80's. He walked up to him and said, Hi George....I'm a huge fan! He said George looked him up and down for about 10 seconds and said, "you're not that big"....and walked away. Not helpful, but a funny story.

Good for a lol though!

His new solo album came out last Friday . New Lynch Mob next month

He loves to discuss his custom guitars which he offers to the masses .

I was looking at some of his creations and asked a question on his website . George emailed me right back in under a minute :worship_gray:

Dallas Guitar Show 2004. Watching Satriani on a side stage near the back of the small crowd.

Far off by the entry doors from outside comes a dude with a guitar case, longer duster fringe jacket, and two chicks. One chick is carrying the case. They all walk closer until he is literally right next to me. I look at him. Short dude, short hair. He looks back at me and smiles. I give him the sup nod and go back to watching Joe. We stand there for a few minutes.

After Satch finished the song. He says “Now I wanna call up my friend George Lynch to the stage…” Of COURSE it’s freaking George Lynch standing next to me. He ripped it up that day!

Cool guitars but man are they overpriced..

George is a stand up guy. He gave me a Duncan JB for my daughter's guitar. When I told him she loved the sound, he said "I want it back!" LOL
