What's up guys!
I recently started a collaboration with this small boutique amp brand from Italy! Frog Amps actually started by making high-end cables (used by the likes of Steve Stevens, GnR's Duff McKagan and Marco Mendoza, among the others), they then decided to take a step into the amp world! Their amps are also used by Alex De Rosso (ex-Dokken) and Luca Princiotta (Doro), both incredible guitarists and good buddies of mine.
It's a very small company (just two guys) and they put an incredible amount of detail in their work, from the materials to the actual building and most importantly, sound.
Here I'm playing with one of their latest amps, the Michelle 120w head (yes, it's LOUD
), heavily based on Frank Levi's #36 mod (which was made famous by a certain guy with a top hat...playing a les paul...the name of the amp should give you a hint lol), but it does way more than that. I wasn't exactly going for that type of sound here (the AFD tone); I wanted something more aggressive, with a little less mids and TONS of gain. Gain was almost dimed but you can still hear the definition on the lowest notes, no mud whatsoever. When playing these amps you can feel a chest punch I personally never felt before, partially because they have almost zero compression, especially compared to modern day, high gain amps (I used to play with a Marshall JVM live and I gotta say these are definitely unforgiving in comparison
in a band situation, however, these cut through the mix like crazy (sometimes too much
)
Well, enough talking, here's the video! Hope you like it
