I was going to say, sure it is an out dated sound but the lord must have been good to Sweet because the guy still has crazy pipes so why waste those on modern rock in an attempt to sound more current? Clearly the more melodic song writing benefits and showcases George's sound a little more. He sounds like he has direction in that solo and it sounds great to my ears.

How do you figure he's a poseur Dan? Because he is religious? Yeah it may be lame for some people but who gives a shit when you have pipes like that. Dude can belt it out, who cares if he also throws out bibles to the audience lol.

This vid make him a poser, he "poses" with his guitar in the vertical 12 to 15 times ...

If this is your definition of a poser then I guess everyone from AC/DC to ZZ top are posers since they all acted that way in the 80's through early 90's.

Michael Sweet is a very good guitar player and an incredible vocalist, and if the whole album is like that clip it may be the best stuff to come out in 2014.

Damn. George remembered how to write solos! Well thought out and wasn't go-to pick tapping. That whole clip hooked me right in.

I think it rips !!
Can't wait to hear more !!
I saw Michael Sweet song with Boston a fees years back he was great !!
I agree Lynch sounded like he was in his element and played very tasty !!
I wonder if the will do any stuff with two guitars ?
Thanks for sharing

Sweet is a poser ...

He may be a poser to you but he can out sing many others that are half his age .
And imho he CAN out play most hacks out there today while he's singing too .
This. Sweet is an all around great musician. LOVE his voice and playing. I bet he can also type a coherent thought at any given moment ...

Just sayin'

No matter what someone's opinion is on any music posted in these forums, you can always count on somebody coming into a thread and taking a massive dump all over it. LAME!

Curious...if you consider Sweet a poser, then how do you view yourself?

50 yr old working man who suvived the 80's with some sweet gear.

Thats about all you need to know.

I got the whole Stryper thing in the 80's with the self proclaimed "Virgin" drummer and bibles for the audience.

If you couldn't get laid in the 80's you werent trying.

They made some good music lets leave at that.

I would be the last to buy a Sweet concert ticket or disc.

All clubs & bar gigs, even the big venues are about selling alcohol and i don't drink.

You can be a real shitty band but if people buy alot of booze while u play you'll be back.

I get up everyday @ 04:00a for work and have no desire being on the mean streets of the most dangerous city [STL MO]

We've been top 3 or 5 of every category here decades, people get shot in broad daylight for no reason.

I road ride, play golf, work & work out, and most my friends are not alcoholics or addicts.

I dont hangout or like to be around people in active addiction and most people around here that go to shows are alcoholics.

So far this year ive gotten sweet deals on a 2009 DSL-100, a new Les Paul and in September hope to have a 2015 SPECIALIZED SL-4 Roubaix Disc.

I'm a Veteran & American taxpayer, if you post ur music on this or any other forum and it doesnt sound good to me im going to tell you.

Thats my opinion, and im entitled to it like anybody else.

He's so full of himself, he's actually 5 separate people.

When at a strip club, dancers put dollar bills in his G-string.

"I don't need no education" is the reason he gives for always staying at least 1000 feet from a school zone.

He's charveldan, the most interesting man in St. Louis.

Huge fan of Michael the guy definitely has kept it together over the years. He looks great still has some of the best lungs in Rock music and can play his ass off on guitar. Lynch sounds awesome on this! Great structure on the solo. It fits melodically! Been looking forward to this album for a while.

I dig it. Lynch's playing on this probably got a kick in the ass by being around Sweet. You think Lynch is using his old SLO that he was recently reunited with?

i suppose i still get a kick out of this kind of theatrical 80s vocal ala tate dickinson dio halford, and LA macho guitar for nostalgic value and sweet still seems to have his ability to pull it off unlike so many others of this vintage. geo's tone sounds pretty fat and liquidy which is cool.

Sounds great. Tune sounds like it could have come out in the 80's but waddya expect. Beats the hell out of a lot of stuff I'm hearing lately. As stated, solo sounded well thought out and really fit the tune. Not a big Stryper fan but caught them in NY last year when I was there and they were outstanding. Great pipes and great guitar playing.

Don't feed the troll

vocals sound strong, playing was solid
haters gonna hate

For my part I enjoy seeing these guys get together and create albums. Kind of cool that they still make music and it is neat to see what the results are when these older rockers get together and make music. Like WInery Dogs, Gales / Pinnick, KMX etc. Some of it is cool and some is not so great but at least we have options and for me getting something new that is remotely like the music I loved growing up is pretty cool. I am 42 and sad to say a lot of music today does not get it for me......when I was growing up there was no shortage of cool bands coming out almost every month. Now there are tons of bands but hardly any of them interest me lol.

For all of you Lynch fans. A snippet of one new track.

http://chirb.it/c0ek45

Reminds me of his tone & playing on the 2nd Lynch Mob album. Sounds GREAT! "Poser" or not, Sweet can play AND sing circles around most people out there. I watched a Stryper concert recently on Hulu, and was VERY surprised how much lead playing he does! That said, there were times that Oz was singing where I thought it was Michael, so talent all around in that band.

This should be a fun project to see.

KXM is really starting to grow on me too. Not the normal sound I gravitate toward, but I like the groove a lot, and it's really "outside the box" for GL, which makes it even cooler.
