I've used their pots without issue, tried some of their pickups and liked some and wasn't really impressed with others. Anyone try their trems? I am interested in the wilkinson knock off to replace a trem in a custom strat to which i lost a part for and that i think is giving me a really spanky sound that i can't shake. Price is right, how about tone and durability and intonation??

I thought about a trem from them. Great prices for sure. I would try the brass blocks they have. In the end I went with a Super Vee trem and am happy. Quite a bit more money though.

All metal is not created equal. I think this is where the cost savings come in on these.

Granted the design is different, but going from the chinese metal trem on my strat to the Super Vee was a dramatic difference in tone and sustain.

Spend the money and get the best you can afford the first time instead of buying and re-buying parts to get the sound you want. Took a while but I learned my lesson finally!

Their electronic parts are mostly what I buy. Alpha pots, orange caps, that sort of thing. Occasionally if I want to tinker with something new I'll try them first because it's cheap, like swapping mini-hums into a p90 axe. They had pickups and adapter mount for cheap. Sounds pretty good too.

So here is a follow up question.. does a bridge/tremolo actually impart warmth/brittleness to a degree where it is really noticeable? I'm looking for a 2 point trem (because that is what my body was drilled for) I need something warm!

If I was you, I'd go with a Callaham strat bridge. Best I've ever used and stays in tune great...

I've heard it mentioned that callahams can be bright? Any truth to this?

Not that I noticed. These clips are both Callaham and they sound pretty warm to me. Both of these were made with Guitar Hero backing tracks with none of EVH's guitar, so all you hear on guitar is me playing:

Romeo Delight!
Jamie's Cryin' Full Mix

Damn chops and tone! Loved it... was that one of your cherry bombs doing the dirty work there?

Thanks for the tip.. I need a two point trem though, doesn't look like they make any?

Thanks - that is all Axe-FX in both cases...

Yeah, for two point trems, I like the Gotohs - killer! They don't have the vintage look though...

Please tell me that is AxeFX through a poweramp though and mic'd and not direct recorded though... i always swear by being able to hear a difference.

Lots of people would swear they can hear a difference. Problem is, they usually need to know it's a direct modeler before they hear it.

 Bob looks like you win this one.. we had this very discussion weeks ago and I swore I could tell. I'm still hedging my bets that this was through a poweramp as most direct recordings are missing something.

I'm 99.9% certain it's direct.

Yup. Direct. I turned off the cab sims on the Axe and used a Redwirez Basketweave 4x12 cab impulse...

Nuts! I tried redwirez once and i have to admit it did sound pretty solid. Not a fan of modeled cabs in the axe from what i have heard though but i guess i really don't have much of a leg to stand on anymore do i.

Had a GFS Telecaster pickup (neck--Lil Boomer) and was a great sounding pickup. Second only to the Dimarzio Area T Neck. For Tele bridge, I use the Babicz Full Contact -- best and most flexible I've ever found. I have a couple of their Strat Tremolo Bridges as well. Top-Notch gear.

No issues with the quality of the trems or the blocks then?I was interested in trying their wilkinson knock off.

Nope!

(Just kiddin', man - My Axe is Axe-FX Ultra too, not the new "realers" Axe II)

I would be a little leery of the bridge. I tried the tuners and was a little underwhelmed, but I do use a TON of Guitar Fetish parts. Pots, knobs, screws, tele control plate, most of the non-critical dimension stuff is great. Speaking of bridges, the Tele bridge with the SS saddles that they sell, the saddles themselves are GREAT!! The bridge is so-so. I've been buying this bridge and stripping of the saddle blocks and throwing away the bridge, it's such a good deal. I also have a Pro Series AlNiCoII neck pup that is just stunning!
Check out Dales stuff at Glendale Guitars, a little pricey (like Callaham) but super high quality, I love his saddles and neck plates!!
