You're saying it's tolerable. I have to agree. It's not Nickelback, for instance. So you do have a point. But damn, Dio Rainbow puts all the rest of it to shame.

Right on, these days it only takes a little bigotry to connotate being bigot. Where is the outrage and sympathy for these labeled bigots? Their rights are disappearing everyday, first they can't lay a beat down, then there's a cutback on bullying, now spouting hateful words is becoming an issue. At this point, the only safe zone to practice their beliefs is in a thread like this. Its a tough time to live in for those who don't tow the line and treat people nicely

Here's the problem with that statement. This is what healthy sexual/thought diversity looks like, gay people coexisting mostly as normal with straight people, as equals. Neither of their positions affects each other, at all, it is a nonissue. This is not what healthy diversity looks like: gay people and straight people existing while some people say that the gay's way of life is wrong, that they shouldn't be trusted with children, that they shouldn't have the same legal rights as everyone else then enacting laws that do so. One position has a negative effect on the other, the other does not. That's different than simple disagreement. For example, if you wear red running shoes, and I hate red shoes, that's alright. But if I demonize you and make it illegal for people with red shoes to jog, that's not the same. Two ideas cannot healthily coexist if one is a negative idea of the other. They will clash, and the result is an irrational response

I totally agree that the word "bigot" is thrown around far to often. Some people are just of a different generation and aren't used to that sort of thing, you have to take that, and other things, into consideration. For example, when that actor said "Suck my dick faggot" to some paparazzi, probably after being harassed, the hot topic in the media was "is he a homophone?". People his age use those words as colloquialisms. Do they hurt people? Of course, and it's important to be aware of that. But it has nothing to do with how he feels about gays. And yes, some people are obsessed with being gay, it's probably just blow back from being repressed, but it could also be because people demonize them. When insulted, a lot of people double down.

You guys are right on. It could be blowback from being repressed or feeling looked down upon, but I think that's more of a "localized" sort of instance, such as family. Generalizing anyone else in that category is...well...lazy.
