Just go a brand-new Gibson Slash Lester this afternoon.

The selector switch was upside down. So, I call GIBSON USA.
I take it this guy was management because he didnt know shit from shine ola.

"Oh we never had that happen before. If you don't like it, send it back"
I asked, if there was enough wire to just turn it 180 degrees.
"I don't have a clue .so if you don't LOVE the guitar send it back"

Phucking moron

Hmm, I don't know much about the Slash lesters but I wonder if it was wired like the Peavey Wolfgangs were. Apparently EVH had the 3-way switch wired backwards, maybe Slash did too.. LOL

The 2021 models that I played were the worst I've personally ever seen from Gibson. Both of my 2018 R7's were perfect, so I'd try to find something that's 2020 or before.

I asked him that after he did a lot of ""hmmmm/huh/really.
He said he wasnt aware that Slash requested a backwards selector.......I am surprised he even knew who Slash was.

The overall fit n finish is good.

I’m not surprised that a customer service guy doesn’t know if there is enough wire to turn the switch around. I couldn’t tell you if either of my Les Paul’s do and one I’ve had for 25 yrs. I would have removed the cover and looked before I called customer support.Would have been quicker and you would have had your answer

I fixed it...LOL
But it was fun to hear a Gibson rep scratching his head and throwing shit at the computer.

I am continually amazed at how poor customer service has gotten in the past few years. Good luck trying to get anyone on the phone at any large business who knows or cares about anything.

Prior to the KKR taking over operations, I never had a problem with Gibson customer service.

What's wrong here? The fact the customer service rep couldn't answer a technical question on how to fix something? Is that a customer service person's role? Ive always thought that was a techs job.

You bought an expensive guitar, they don't want you to keep an expensive guitar you don't love. They offered to take it back, presumably giving you the opportunity to find one you do love. Isn't that what they were supposed to do?

If you wanted a tech to answer a question about wire length, perhaps you were just talking to the wrong person, wrong department. Working for gibson likely does not require any level of documented guitar nerdery...

Gibson CS should have immediately transferred him to tech support. Don't be such a lickspittle.

I'm just gonna state the obvious, they're riding on the brand. They'll never clean their act and will continue to milk out on old glory as long as they can.

Oh yeah they're gonna do that to Mesa as well but oh well, i never really cared for mesas anyways. :scared:

Sometimes these things happen. At least you can just return it or just re-wire the switch yourself if the guitar is nice. Shouldn't be a huge issue to fix as long as everything else is great on the guitar.

Perhaps they don't want people messing with the guitar, still not loving it, then returning it in an altered or modified state? Don't be such a jackanape.
I am a Sith... We deal in absolutes. :)
