Nice! That Tone King is a killer amp. Curious, what's your set list look like ?I play there like 10-15 times a year! Lol
It’s Cottleville Wine Sellers in Cottleville, MO and it’s fun. Lots of hot rich people. Lol
Back in my band tonight. Decided to bring out the Imperial combo.

I love this Tone King Imperial. I was able to compare this one to a used v2 side-by-side in the store. I couldn't believe how much better this early version sounds. Maybe I could've gotten the v2 to sound as good with more time. But wow. I was blown away by this amp. And it's light weight. The cabinet is so resonant that things will fall off the amp in seconds. It's really something else.Nice! That Tone King is a killer amp. Curious, what's your set list look like ?
Friday nights setlist + extras. Grey boxed stuff is songs we sing to give singer a breakWhat type of stuff do you guys play? I was recently doing '90s hard rock stuff, but I do love what I'm doing now too.
The setlists from my last couple of bands look VERY similar! Good stuff!Friday nights setlist + extras. Grey boxed stuff is songs we sing to give singer a break

Throw a broad net, make everybody in the room happy at least once hahaThe setlists from my last couple of bands look VERY similar! Good stuff!
We cover 70's rock to 90's metal, so Aerosmith, AC/DC, Deep Purple, Kiss to Dio/Maiden/AiC/Sabbath, so everyone's happy here too.Throw a broad net, make everybody in the room happy at least once haha
I see bass players with huge pedalboards and I’m like “it’s bass.” I dont even get that.Something to be said for simplicity!!!
Bass is my main gig. Every single time I add more I wind up taking it out, in favor of just a compressor and if it’s going to the house both my heads have DI out now so my SANSAMPS weeps in the corner.I see bass players with huge pedalboards and I’m like “it’s bass.” I dont even get that.
How many possible different bass sounds do you need? Lol
I keep my compressor and RC Booster on 99% of the time. I’ll switch them off and my BB Preamp on for dirt on 1 or 2 songs. That’s it!Bass is my main gig. For a slap solo and various parts a delay is awesome on bass.
There is a lot that can be done with an onboard 3 band EQ on the bass itself, and for boost it’s all in the volume knob. I have all my basses wired with treble bleeds just for this.
It’s nice to have some fuzz too but if you know how to cook already it’s a matter of seasoning.
That’s the cool thing about bass. It’s really that easy.I keep my compressor and RC Booster on 99% of the time. I’ll switch them off and my BB Preamp on for dirt on 1 or 2 songs. That’s it!
I mostly vary the tone with my plucking hand (soft, hard, towards the bridge, towards the neck, pick, etc…)
Sansamp BDDI in the bag for backup.
I dabbled with playing bass in a band format for about a minute, have an Aguilar Tone Hammer 350 head and a super sweet Ernie Ball Caprice bass I scored cheap on a GC blowout. I still end up sounding like a guitar player playing bass hahaI play bass in a cover band as well.. my board has a wah (For Whom the Bell Tolls), a Keeley Compressor, a tuner, a Damnation Audio Mosfet Bass Distortion (for some extra dirt), and my Steve Harris Tech21 Sansamp. The Sansamp does all the heavy lifting as I'm running IEMs usually, and my amp is set pretty flat just to move some air on stage. I occasionally throw a chorus on as well, but it comes and goes. Simple is better for sure on bass, I normally run the same base tone the entire time.
