For those who gig on the regular, how often do you address your pricing? Yearly?

Had a gig we landed earlier in the year, felt like we budget-priced it to ensure we got it, now they're wanting us back for multiple dates in 23 and I want to be fair but also want it to be worth our time.

How often are you having these convo's with the owners and\or the folks doing booking? This is one of the toughest parts of the whole damn process lol.

Depends on the room and the draw. If they’re paying you a first time in price and you bring in a crowd with an obvious benefit to the bottom line you’ve got some negotiating legs to stand on. We’ll typically revisit after a time or two in the same spot. We’re fortunately very busy too so that helps

thanks man. we don't have a solid local following yet but we're working on it. We're in a pretty rural part of the world. appreciate the input!

You also have to consider how they treat you....how far are you traveling to play? Are they comping drinks and food, or at least a beer a set and deep food discounts? We've got one of our regular stops that takes epic care of us. Our drummer rolls in and they ask him if he would like a beer? he tells the bartender what he wants but they don't have it so he tries to order something else. Bartender stopped him and pulled out money from the till and sent an employee down the street to a market, employee returns with a case of what drummer asked for. Next we know the entire case is sitting in a big metal bucket on ice next to the stage. We all ate and didn't get a bill that night. We don't mess with what were paid there haha

Rural may work in your favor if you're the on point and honestly better than what else is out there.
