Going to see him with Kage in 10 days. I can not wait.

Paul doesn't know much Japanese, but Marty is fluent and appears on TV regularly. Both have solid followings in Japan, but Japan likes pretty much any good guitarist.

Doesn't Paul live there too? I thought he was pretty fluent as well? Just what I've heard.

Either way, Paul slays, and he's always been the coolest shredder ever.

Paul only lived there for a very short time and moved back partially due to difficulty with the language. He spent maybe a year there? He moved back to the US ages ago and married a Japanese wife. He no longer needs to learn Japanese. ;)

:2thumbsup:

Man I missed probably the only opportunity to see him live when Mr. Big were here a couple of years ago. Just couldn't make my timetable work to see the show.

Paul's been the one of the two "tutors" for my "second coming" in the past 6 years. Especially his and Doud Aldrich's clips on YT are very very instructional and easy to learn from !

I never get tired of the Rock Fukiyama clips...so awesome. The guitar tones are so awful though!

There is one with Kerry King that is hilarious.

Yeah, I've seen the KK one too... funny shite. Also, yes, the tones are super-terrible. Talk about turning dogshit into twinkies.

For me Gilbert never was about the tone he just has stellar chops, phrasing and blah blah blah blah blah. Funny the man seems seems to always be on a tone search amp wise. I have seen him with ADA MP-1's, Metaltronix M-1000's, Marshalls of all flavors and Laney GH 100L's and his tone to my ears is always anemic. I love the way he can just play anything off the cuff. Hung at with him after a small show at The Class in Middletown NY many years ago and he was the nicest person. End Fanboi rant. Just thought this whole thing was as awesome as it is funny.

great clip. Paul was like a walking encyclopedia of rock riffs when they play that trivia game.
It's cool to see couple shredders going on a TV show and the crowd is just loving it.

Man does the tone suck over in Japan

Must be an Asian thing

;)
