Staying on topic...always loved Gillis playing. And, back in the 80's, next to Ed's Franky which was my favorite guitar to drool over, I LOVED Gillis' red/black strat...and I would've "killed" for it....Killed, I say!

I like the mods here so I hope they don't get offended or take it the wrong way but this is a product of lack of moderation.

Threads getting derailed by negativity and or personal attacks or petty feuds will drive most of the viewers/readers away after a little while. This is why most forums have rules about personal attacks or posting to illicit negative responses etc...

You think someone wants to come here and share pics of his original 67 plexi or 59 strat/lp or even a high end 59 LP replica if most of the responses are how stupid he is when he could get the same thing cheaper by buying a metropolis kit/amp or a musikraft neck and body, etc?

Eventually the only people left will be the ones spewing constant negativity against one another till the admin decides that the board is no longer profitable or a liability and shuts it down.

For the record not taking sides in the beef in this thread, it's between two adults and they can handle it themselves. Not my business.

I always assumed the original Strat (body) was Fiesta red...I think that was a fender color.

Fernandes made a Japanese copy, replica, akin to the fender stripe series for EVH. Other than red, or fire engine red I'm not sure what they called it.

That guitar was bad ass though.

Oh, I don't think so. Fiesta red is way lighter and more pastel. At least the modern fiesta reds I see in music stores are.

Found an old article....

"In ’79, my brother’s friend gave me a beat up ’62 Strat, sanded down, in a box. It was all torn apart, but it’s the guitar I rebuilt and I’m still playing today – it’s my main red Strat, with a built-in Nady wireless and a very original Floyd Rose non-fine-tuner model. I had an auto body shop paint it red with leftover paint from my Datsun 240Z."

Seriously. You can find anything on paintscratch. That's how I got my EVH Wolf to look like the seafoam Peaveys. I used the BMW Atlantik Blau code for it. I really like that Datsun red. I have a Kramer Focus 3000 body laying around and sort of wanted to do a Hentor Sportscaster build in the same color as Brad's old Strat.
