This amp does George Lynch better than what George Lynch is currently using. If you like the modded Marshall tones of the 80's you can't beat the Jose HG mod. I talked to Tone Merchants about modding my JMP and told them of the Voodoo modded plexi and they told me the HBE would be very very similar so I opted not to mod the JMP.
Also my amp is the old version of the Jose mod. Trace told me the new Jose mod sounds even better.

Well I wish Trace would put some new clips up of the new Jose HG if it sounds even better than yours

I sent Voodoo an email last nite about seeing what they can do to a QR, Trace personally called me today.
He basically knew what I wanted before even opening my mouth. I'm really thinking about sending it to him.
Fantastic guy to speak with.

Love your clips MarshallMel

Agree MarshellMel, your clips are great! That Lynch solo was kick ass too man. Great playing.

One of the best sounding amps I've ever plugged into was a Hex modded JCM 800 2204 with the OEI OT. It was the original Hex circuit with 4 gain stages. That amp was a beast! That is one I regret letting go.

Funny my Hex has 4 gain stages also with the OEI OT but it is a 1978 JMP 2204... it also has most of his mods, midboost, feel, global, bottom and brutal/savage switch. Freakin amp KILLS. People that have played older Marshalls plug into this thing and flip out.

Well I've never heard or played their amps in person but I did buy some cables from them a few years ago. Within the past few months a couple started going to shit. They are supposed to have a lifetime warranty so I contacted them about replacing or repairing them. After taking quite awhile to get back to me, they told me I could send them in on my dime and "maybe" they would repair them, maybe not. I decided not to send them in so they are pretty much worthless to me now. I can't see spending $10 and the hassle of shipping them for a "maybe". I can almost buy a new one from them for that. It's not a big deal but it kind of left a sour taste in my mouth and I'd definitely think twice before spending my money there. FWIW, I don't recall ever hearing anything else negative about them.

Trace is a cool dude, and has excellent taste in music. I'd love to try some of his amps.

Trace Is A Great Guy...

He says what he does, and does what he says...

My 79' Marshall JMP Voodoo HG Jose Platinum is one of my favorite sounds on Earth!

Been Solid as a Rock & the Tube Buffered FX Loops sounds Just Great.

Check It Out!

WOW! Between Marshallmel's clips above and this clip, not only am I convinced to do business with Voodoo, but I may need to re-think my choice of amp!

How exactly does this work? Are you able to buy the amp modded from them, or do you have to first find one and then send it in to be modded?

Roid, that marshall sounds as good as it looks, it's immaculate! :inlove:

I agree - the Jose sounds f'n incredible!

If you want a current production head, I think you can buy the modded one directly from them. If you want a modded JCM800/JMP type starting point, then you have to get it. You could have the amp shipped directly to Voodoo if you want (I think). Bottom line, talk to Trace. Let him know exactly what you want and listen to what he has to say...

As good as these clips may or may not be, the bottom line is when you hear one in person you will shit yourself. It's as good as anything out there.

If you want a brand-new Voodoo-"Jose" modded amp, why not just get one of his V-Plex or V-Rock models?

You can pick up a re-issue plexi for way cheap these days and have Voodoo mod it for alot less $$$ than you would spend on Traces production amps. If $$$ is not an issue then a V-Rock is the way to go. I'm a bit of a tightwad so I went the used re-issue route. I have less in that amp and the mods and shipping than what Marshall sells them for new. :D

I was debating this same thing until I found a used Dual Lead V-Rock on a semi-local craigslist for a good price.

What's the standard going rate for a reissue plexi these days?
