I really like this song... especially the chord timing vs the sung verse over the top... I like the second solo too what do you guys think? I know its not the "true" guns but this is a well made song imo...

As far as new music goes, most I cant stand but I do like this, its got groove & feel with a good vibe.

I think the 2 solos/guitarists compliment each other but not a fan of sweep picking in general.

Don't know how long Axl's voice will hold out in that range.

I actually like quite a few songs on that album, including the one above. I don't think it's a terrible album by any means. It's really not fair for anyone to compare it to old GnR, because it really isn't (for those that do).....being that Axl is the only original member left. But, if people could take it for what it is, they'd realize that it's not bad.

Appetite and lies.
Imo,the illusion records dont hold up.i hate the production and the guitar tones.(other than locomotive)
Handful of good tunes.i hate ballads.just listened to all the guns stuff over the weekend psychin myself up.but gimme appetite and lies... And im very content.

Definitely agree about The Illusion albums. There's something about the production that's just too slick and controlled. Doesn't sound like a band playing "together". There's a few songs that I do still enjoy, like Civil War and Dead Horse and The Garden is not bad, but it's because of the songs, not so much the way they sound. Ironically enough I heard Adler say he played the drums on Civil War which makes a lot of sense as it feels differently from the rest. I will say I always liked Axl's voice and miss hearing it in a style it was born to do which is dirty, filthy, rock n roll.

Better is my favorite song from the Chinese Democracy effort.

I think the original line up will eventually reunite...

They are probably scared Axle will eat them :scared:

I've always thought the Illusion records could have been condensed down to just 1 if you take the best 10-12 songs. And while they were at it, they could have kept Axl from adding all those overdubs that ruined just about everything. The guitar tone on that was awful. No idea why he felt the need to revisit that tone with his Signature Marshall's #34 setting  .

I actually dig the Slash solo stuff way more than current GNR. I suppose the money from an original lineup reunion will be too good for Slash to turn down some day. I doubt they would ever be able to stand each other long enough for new material.

Man, I really liked that a lot - never listened to anything past the original band, but I dug that - Axl sounds good!

I always lol when I read the "could be condensed down to one good album" LMAO hell there are cuts that didn't even MAKE the album that blow away most of the stuff in that era.
And terrible tone? wow ...thats really really out there.

Always thought Axl was a talented guy but a really weird dewd.

He's made some seriously good music over the years, survived the craziness of the 80's and all that jazz.

He's earned his stripes.

Glad to see old guys can still ROCK ...

yeah i like most of those songs. tone wasn't bad. First 4 are my favorite after that the rest are ok. "Locomotive" "Coma" "14 Years" "Pretty Tied up" "Bad Obsession" "My World" "Double Talkin' Jive"

bad tone huh? even on a shitty youtube upload it sounds awesome

Personally I've never thought they had a great tone except for Slash's neck pickup soloing which sounds killer. They just had a great attitude and great material on Appetite. His soloing on November Rain is pretty stellar too.

Uh, yeah...guess I was off my rocker. Than thin a*s brittle tone he has there is awesome. Far superior to Appetite. Sorry, I've seen the error of my ways.

I've always liked this song. It's a standout for me and one of the few great tracks on the album. The first lead is tasty and the sweeping is cool in other parts. Mostly, just a great catchy tune.

Better, Madagascar and Sorry stand out for me from Chinese Democracy. But also for me it's not on par with the previous records, it's just something else.
