Am I the only one that can't play any full songs and basically only plays leads over backing tracks or in a band situation?

I've generally always been more interested in learning cool individual parts from tunes I liked, rather than learning to cover the entire song, though obviously there were many exceptions to that rule over the years

However, I'm the type of dude that WILL NOT remember how to play an entire song (even songs I wrote myself) unless I'm constantly playing them regularly

Same, I forgot so many songs I used to play.

Was just going to post that this sounds like a TGP thread.
I actually posted this on TGP and mylespaul also.
I had no idea how many poeple would respond to this.
Obviously I am not alone.

Don't worry, my Soldano Astro 20 just arrived and I am picking it up tomorrow.
I will post about that soon.
If I do any videos I will play a few chords also, lol.

Just play what makes you happy and don't over analyze it.
That is what I do.
I don't really care what people think, but it is cool to realize there are others similar to myself.
I also don't mind constructive crticism, as long as it is done in a respectful manner.

Some people are natural jackwagons, but as long as it is not to my face, it's cool.

Similar situation.

I believe I was a better player 20 years ago.

I cant play a song anymore.
I put on jam tracks on Youtube and let 'er rip!

I do feel though like I am practicing.
Playing less notes, trying to only hit the notes that matter.
Scale practice.
Dynamics.
And its just fun!

Patience was never a virtue of mine, and sitting there trying to learn a song note for note just doesn't hold my interest anymore...

Actually saw this posted at TGP earlier this morn.
I refuse to sign in there though.

TGP has some issues, but it is still the biggest forum out there and there are some cool people on there.
I keep my political views to myself and only got banned for a week once over a video I posted demo'g a pedal I had previously sold.
They thought i was trying to sell the pedal and banned me.
Some tool turned me in without knowing the facts.
I responded to him saying why would I jeopardize my membership trying to sell a $50 pedal and he, she , they , them took offense.
I seriously don't care what anyone is, my petsitter while I was away at a wedding this weekend was transitioning from female to male, but they did a good job and I was happy.

I have such limited time to play, I just stick to my bag of licks when I get a chance to play.

I certainly can learn and play full songs, but that is boring.
