the 40c worked great. just the right size for the band from a volume and mix standpoint. still gotta tweak some tones yet. i'm going to try an od 808/ sd-1/ luxury drive combo for boosts this weekend.
i think i'm in love! :inlove:
can't wait until i get more break in time on the speaker. about the only thing i might consider is putting either a 65 or 75 watt creamback in it. but for now i'll leave it stock.

I dumped an SLO and XTC 101b because they didn't sound better than my Marshalls, even if they are a little more versatile. I still have a few modded Marshalls but I prefer the stock ones and use a 2204 as my main amp.

i've got a couple of other od's i might experiment with at rehearsal. one of them is a tube driver. i'm no eric johnson.. but it seems to work well for him.

i don't know what other guys are doing.. but i'm still an experiment in progress. last gig i think i had the level around eleven o'clock and the drive at ten o'clock. tone at noon. it was o.k. for classic rock single note kind of runs.. but i want more gain for leads.. so i'm going to mess around with that this weekend.

SD-1 settings for me are left to right: Level 2 pm, tone 11 pm, gain between 10 and 11 pm. That's my 80's rythm gain channel. Then I kick in a koko boost which is set 10 oclock. Subtle stacking but gets me enough juice for fluid ruins and not fizzy or too satchurated.

when i cranked up the gain and dropped the level on the sd-1 in the ultra channel on the dsl 40c it brought up the noise floor with it. it's not exceptionally bad and i expected that. i want to see if an od 808 has a lower noise floor on this amp. i've got a couple of other od's i can try as well. i also have an ns-2 if i really think i need it. throw the luxury drive across both channels as a clean boost.
the seventy/80 is still kinda of farty and has a bit of a push on the low end yet.. but it's not nearly broken in. i think i need to abuse it some more. :D
