Congrats on the soon-to-be new addition!! If you like your amp already I would also (and do) use the rivera rock crusher recording. It's the version with the speaker emulator on it but can be disabled. I also use the two-notes software with it for when I want a different flavor. I started with the free version but have since upgraded to the full software version and it's the best cab/mic sim I've used.

First off, Congrats!!!!!!

Second, Don't change anything. I'm not joking, I'm dead serious, the kids will get used to it. My son turned 17 last month, and my daughter will be 16 in about two weeks. I never changed anything, and cranking up a 100 watt head never bothered them. I used to have band practice in my basement, where we had Drums, two halfstacks, an ampeg SVT 4 and two 410's and full vocals running through a mixer. Underneath their bedrooms. They never had a problem sleeping, and will tell you now it was fun times having band practice there.

Sure, you have to start off low, especially when they're first born, but I think you'll be amazed if you play as normal for the next few months while she's pregnant, and build up, how it won't affect the baby at all.

Oh yeah, Congrats again. :D best thing that ever happened to me was becoming a dad. They're my life.

Does it affect you and your wife now? it won't affect the kids. They'll grow up with it, and be used to it, just like you and your wife are.

for the first 2 1/2 years, my wife worked until midnight and it was just me and the kids. Id have a head and 4x12 in one room playing at sane volumes, and them sound asleep in the next room.

Get a Digitech GSP1101, Works great for what your talking about and they are reasonable price wise used and you can even get the floor board for more control. Use the latest firm ware and you've got your choice of red wire or other cab sims. It's 5150 model has some great tone possibilities!

Oh and congrats man! I'm really happy for you and your wife, this is great news!

The Laney IRT-Studio looks really good, didn't know about these! Must check one out!

Congrats:-)
As many have said, its the best thing ever. Had our second kid 6 weeks ago and can't imagine my life withou them..
Change nothing. Do as you always do but do think of their little ears :-) my lad breaks into a mean monkey dance whenever I play Song for Sonny liston :-)

You'll spend so much time laughing at and with him/her. Get ready for some early morning couch jam sessions - sleep is overrated :-)

There are a few things to consider that I didn't see mentioned. In some respects an amp with a headphone out would be terrific in that you could play loud and not bother anyone. If you do that you can't hear the baby if something comes up. So maybe a lower volume option is more flexible all around? Kids learn to sleep in all sorts of environments, even noisy ones.

It depends a bit on what you're wanting, but I'd probably go with something like a GSP1101. The new firmware is great, it does have a headphone, it goes right to the board, has it's own cab sims, and can be had used in the $300 range, a bit more for the footboard.

Congrats man! Can't wait for the day myself. What Marshall Freak said above is true. My girlfriends parents were musicians and meg said it never bothered her growing up. Wether it was full band practices in the basement or a cranked amp/drums.

If you do go that route, I'd say check out the two notes product line. I'm thinking about that for my new apartment in FL this August.

Thanks for the responses guys/gals. Options are good! I appreciate the help. Yeah, also to consider was the fact that my bassist in our band quit a couple weeks ago. I was using his Carvin 4x12 these last 2 years at practice/gigs. So now I have been trudging my Quickrod and my Splawn 2x12 up and down stairs/loading my Grand Am....

So my thinking was maybe just keep my Splawn 2x12 at rehearsal? Instead of buying a second cab, what were the other options I had? The good thing as many of you "Do Nothing" peeps have said, is my 2012 splawn can get killer tones at really low volumes....So I don't really think I need an attenuator type device? But the line out would be kinda cool.

Thanks for all the suggestions...Being 39 and expecting my first child is a little intimidating. LOL...good thing I work out constantly so I can keep up...Hopefully?

First off, CONGRATS MAN!!!

2nd, you have PLENTY of time to be worrying about how you march forward with playing at home, as even after they are born, you are not going to have a whole lot of spare time...and the time you do have, your wife will kick ur ass if you start playing (even acoustically), as she is the one who will be up every 2 hours feeding the baby, changing diapers, etc... all nihgt long, and she is going to EXPECT you to feel some of the pain also brudda!!! :D

Figure you got a whole year before you even get to start thinking about lighting up an electric guitar in the house!! LOLOLOL

I'd say just buy a Marshall crib, every other crib company bases their design and feel off it so why not go with the original? Unless you want cool lights or a mobile with adjustable parameters, then I'd go boutique...

As for effects, I'm a Dunlop guy and I highly recommend their pacifiers and bottles, you can find em for good prices on eBay or at Baby Center...
