Have been interested in this amp but had never seen any good vids/clips that at thought sounded that great. found this one the other day. Would like to try one.

Thread updated, I picked one of these up and it's killer! The second clip is one I did real quick.

Agree this video sounds great! I have the SS and the DS mini would love to add the X!

This is the most ignored amp of all the Friedman's, but it does sound great though!

The thing that would improve this demo most would be a sense of timing...

I'm just happy to find a clip of this amp as there are not many at all, very few out there. I'm not looking to critique the playing (as long as it's not a total shitfest   )but instead the tone and this clip sounds pretty good unlike the few others I've seen which were just meh. I can see your point... though I'm just glad there are people that put up clips.

A lot of modern MV amps it seems struggle with the low to mid gain tones. Lots of them can pull it off decently but few seem to do it exceptionally well. This one may be able to do it.

Phil uses a lot less gain than many might perceive. That amp sounds awesome with P90's.

Hope this isn't true, but I heard from a very good source that Friedman is having issues with Phil X & may be discontinuing the amp & possibly re-introducing it with a different name.

Issues?

I watched lots of clips yesterday of Phil and his band to get an idea how this thing sounds and phil is using what looks like an old JCM 800 in a lot of the vids. Some times you can see both amps onstage. Guess I can't blame him as it is hard to beat a good older Marshall and that seems about par for the course with endorsee's but I guess this is a sig amp.

Sorry, this is what I heard from a reliable source, as I said, hoped it wasn't true. We'll see what happens in the future.

Btw, this is the same source that told me Egnator was building your amps before you came out with the news much later.

the X sounds a lot like an 800 to me - which is the point i think, but it's the Marshallest one so far from the clips i've heard, sounds very dynamic and open

It then begs the question, why not just play a really good jcm800? With a few tweaks it is the ultimate amp. Phil D likes boosting too. Still using the digitech bad monkey unless I am mistaken. Either way, Dave no doubt can make a great sounding 800 though.

The X has similarities to the 800 for sure - but it has more gain than an 800 and has that different Freidman feel.

whether thats what someone wants is a different issue - but its not an 800..or an 800 with a boost
