I don't think a bridge single coil HB looks that bad in a vintage style strat... Here's one of my EJ's with that setup.

Yeah, I guess that doesn't look bad at all! What pickup is that? I think I'd try the Rio Grande version, since I like their BBQ so much. But I'm not real sure.

Hey Chris very cool guitar! I have a JB jr in my cutom built relic'd strat. Sounds really good IMHO. BTW the one I have looks alot like the pics of the white one you posted.

Here's a question, what guitars, other than the Road Worn and higher end reissues are finished in nitrocelluose? I really want a guitar in that finish, I also agree they just sound better for some reason. Maybe it's the feel? My friends dad has a lot of old Fenders and I would love to see how these compare. Emergency SLAB!

I still think this is the king of all Roadworn guitars...

So there must be some template for the necks, they are both worn the same way with no wear on frets 9 through 12

I wonder who created the worn template?

That looks strange to me too to have no wear on the 9-12 frets. I mean, I love the 12th fret, who doesn't... :D

Those Highway 1 have thin finishes. Are those nitro? I think so. I take it you're not really into the whole relic thing?

Hey, if you can whip up some high dollar vintage Fenders, I'll be at your house in 30 minutes! :)

Personally, I am not into the relic thing but if they sound good, that's all that matters. I really would like to compare an old strat and a relic one side by side though. It'd be interesting. I think the whole nitro finish thing is appealing to a lot of people right now.

r u kidding me man? that tobacco burst 50's looks fricken killer...its art and classic. you don't wanna know my opinion of destroying that perfect strat with a hum in the bridge. you already have the killer humbucker sound from your other axes...

watch this!

LOL! Yeah, I hear ya! I want to do it, but don't want to do it. It's crazy.

Is that EJ with the bridge single and tone rolled down? Looks like it. I never realized that. I actually just soldered in that little jump wire tonight, so my far tone knob works for the bridge and middle pickups. Much better. Could stand to be a bit hotter, maybe...

I can't say for sure on the the EJ sig strat whether its the middle and bridge or just bridge, but all of my strats have that little jumper thingy which is just the middle and bridge too. One other option to consider is the noiseless Fender single coil pickups
here's an quick clip i did awhile ago with fender noiseless bridge strat though a JCM800 and tube screamer ..

also, something i used to do is have a separate pickguard assembly ( set aside from all singles ) loaded with humbucker ( duncan lil 59') in the bridge and dimarzio VV blues in middle and neck. I had it down to a science where depending on the gig, mood or guitar i wanted to play, i would just make the swap a day before and ready, set, go!
