what about trannies and caps? i was thinking MM trannies, German instead of JJ, and Soza?

To be honest with you the 12 series is alomost to Ralle's specs but you can certainly ask George and I would think that he would do it for you.
I have the MM Tannies and Zoso caps in mine. I was told that the Heyboers might be better for the VH thing but who knows.
That said, I highly recomend a master volume or hotplate otherwise your gonna kill small animals with the volume !!!![]()

Im wondering if i can take out the stock master volume in my stock 2203 and replace it with the Jose Master?.. If so, il buy the parts and do it asap!
Hey Brother!!mentoneman":ae3bb said:my precious bro bro!
i would LOVE to hear you fire up your metro amp and lay down some gain sauce clips ala vh!
you know how much i love the ralle sound, and rockstah has also pegged it, so i'm sure someone with your ears will also be able to knock one out of the park.
the strange thing about this whole brown sound deal is that it seems that there are really no magic parts involved, so why did it take so long to reproduce a tone that has been around for 30 years?
i still think vic was the first to get it close in a production amp with the peacemaker, and in some ways modernizing the vh tone, but ralle and rockstah are refining it very nicely with the gain/touch sensitivity based on what i'm hearing.
i'll be really interested to hear what vic has up his sleeve for a 2 channel mojave amp in light of these developments!
mentoneman":16a23 said:it really is amazing just how much the characteristics of a non master plexi style amp changes when you apply the load box principle to the equation.
plugging straight in at moderate volumes, the peacemaker will barely break up and you crave a serious overdrive pedal to do the grinding, but used as a loaded head dimed and reamped, it saturates and gets nice and spongy and chirpy, with that blaring car horn chord clarity, to the point that the same drive pedal from before turns everything to mush, and a different type of pedal like a very clean boost becomes more desireable.
Gainfreak":4692b said:he still cranked the crap out of the amp but the master adds a certain thing to the sound. I think that more people will believe when Mark(Rockstah) Posts clips of the Jose master.
I think Everything that Mark Cameron has said is pretty much spot on and I agree with him 100%.
YOU ROCK Bruthah!!

Gainfreak":64495 said:I think you can Dan but the whole thing is beyond me at the moment and methinks that you should ask the guys on the metro site. I'm pretty sure that Rockstah is working on the Jose MV as we speak!
mentoneman":c68c0 said:the master thing sounds like it enhances the power tube *compression* and breakup factor, which gives it that looser legatoey thing, and then it becomes more a matter of eq shaping away the buldging lows as the highs seem to compress into a pretty smooth tone naturally.
that's why vic normally rolls the bass volume off off the peacemaker to clear up the lows and let the cab resonate clearly ala george lynch "sacred groove", demartini "you're in love/lay it down" and landau "i'm buzzed"
i think that's what the queensryche boys referred to as the "aunch" tone...like revving a dirt bike where the initial attack is fatter and the bite almost comes after the punch.
it always made sense to me that if you could derive your breakup/gain from the power tubes instead of the preamp tubes it would sound bigger and clearer and less fizzy, although based on my experience, it is much less fluttery hair trigger robogain, and treble notes have way more dynamics and authority.
guys like paul gilbert, vai, and guthrie could make huge tone improvements if they went more in that direction.

The key to the tone (this week) is the MXR Dist+!!!
