OK, as long as you have some lower output pups, you're ok. Here's the color I'm thinking, i like the way the blue burst looks with the ebony neck:

I really wanted the Jake E Lee purple... but that would add about $400 to the price...

Here's a pict of my '82 Charvel Strathead mutt. The body is a USACG "Wayne Rock Legend" with a black nitro finish. Wolfetone Marshallhead pickups. This one has tone big time.

Now THAT is what I'm talking about! That thing looks sweet.

You bastards...
I tore apart my strat last night, only keeping the neck.
Now I am ordering a San Dimas body and new hardware to complete my white Charvel clone

About where's yours is showing to be. I measured it yesterday to see if I can put the floyd flush with the body.

Ok...i have a vintage bridge on this strat and i had to raise the saddles so much i had to get longer screws.

I think i am going to order up a new body from MK and make the white one I posted earlier.
Did you take the angle in the neck pocket?

That guitar will never play right with those crazy long screws, that guitar is going to need major neck pocket work.

Not anymore... selling off everything but the neck and doing a San Dimas w/ Floyd

This thread is making me want to sell off my RG470 beater and put together a lil' parts guitar... mmm, birdseye maple!!!

Nice. Aren't you selling a parts guitar on TGP right now? I sold a parts guitar a few months ago and took a big hit on it.

My experience with parts guitars is you get back about 50% on the dollar. However there was a guy selling his Warmoth on here recently and wanted $1200 for it and we all kind of said well it's a parts guitar so that sounds a little high. And then he got it on ebay.

I have to say I agree thus far on both accounts. The body is EXTREMELY light Swamp ash. I mean if it's 4lbs, I'm shocked. The neck is really nice, very nice contour. Frets seem perfect. No sharp edges anywhere. Hopefully won't need a leveling.

I'm curious about the Musikraft necks. What contour did you get -- the C or the D? I like a nice thick neck, about .830 at the first fret up to .950 at the 12th or 13th fret, but want a flattened back profile like a GMW or Charvel. The Suhr C shapes have a flatter back than most which I like as well. Fender C shapes are too round and uncomfortable for me.

I got the medium D... whatever the default option is.

I think you can get close to what you paid for if you assemble it and finish it yourself. Figure it's just parts. If you take the thing apart and sell the parts you have to get what they're worth right?

I think I'll be building my super strats from now on... anything bolt-on... I'm building it.. LOL! :D Too much fun

I printed it out myself. Not sure if that logo will stay or not, it's basically a sticker. I saw inkjet decal paper! That would rock!

I ran across a tutorial page about making/printing your own decals last night. Seemed easy enough.

I'm damn close to ordering some parts and getting to work. I just dont know how I want to deal with the finishing. I'm a burst kinda guy and I dont know how well I could pull that off on my own.

Still, can't wait to see this completed and hear some clips of it!

Yeah I saw a couple things on the internet about it. Seems pretty easy.
I don't blame you about the finishing. I'd buy it finished or have a pro do it. It's just a big hassle. Unless you take the Tung oil or Tru-oil route. Seems like the guitars sound better when they're oiled rather than have super thick lacquer. Plus it looks great IMO and you save hundreds of dollars.

You and I both! LOL! :D I need to order the rest of the parts.

what about the pickup selector and tone/volume pot holes?
