Got my Musikraft San Dimas body and neck today...

Sounds a lot thicker than my other strat.
I ordered a thick neck and a big headstock. The neck is thicker than my Explorer.

Well I'm pretty psyched to get the rest of the parts and finish it...

Yeah.
I was lucky I had everything ready to go by the time i had my neck, but now i realized i don't like the 'vintage' pickups and want a full size hum in the bridge.
(and my attempt to route the existing pickguard failed )

What color are you going with?

I'm just gonna oil it with Birchwood Casey's tru-oil. That's it. I still need the rest of the parts though. I have the bridge pickup...

I have no clue.. I was told that it's a custom 5 that was hand-wound... Will that make a difference? Damned if I know. I never heard a stock C5 so I have nothing to compare.

I have no clue.. I was told that it's a custom 5 that was hand-wound... Will that make a difference? Damned if I know. I never heard a stock C5 so I have nothing to compare.

I love custom 5's.
I use them in 2 of my guitars.

Are they bright? What do they sound like? I know SD has clips, but I hate all the pickups equally in their clips! They always sound 1000000 times better then they do on their lousey comparison clip page.

I doubt it's hand wound unless you paid in the $160 range for it new. Production Floor just means you have changed something small about the normal features of the pickup. The main one is if you order it without a logo. Also they can be 4 conductor models normally and you want it as a single conductor. Stuff like that. Hand wound stuff is Custom Shop.

Not bright at all, i find them kinda dark/smooth.
I use them in my Explorer and Horus (both mahogany).
